Lynn the Giant Squid

Ranked #5,510 in Squidoo Community, #351,087 overall

On July 2nd, 2009, I got an email that said, "Congratulations! You're one of our newest Giant Squids." Yay!!! Now of course, I didn't just accept what my eyes were telling me the first time, I had to read it again... and then again.... lol!!!! I am really proud of my new status and hope I can live up to the Giant Squids expectations. I hope to contribute good stuff to the Squidoo community.

Update:  I became a Giant Squid 100 in October 2009! Yay!!!!

Lynn the Home Educator

Homeschooling is one of my hardest, but most rewarding jobs. I love spending time with my children. I love being the one to see my children's "ah-ha, I get it!" moments. I also love being the one to come up with their lessons. A good majority of my lenses are on education. When I plan out homeschool studies, Squidoo is an awesome place to put them. This is also a way I can give back to the homeschool community by freely sharing my lessons with others.

Lynn the Rocket Mom

I truly doubt I would be a Giant Squid right now, if I had not first been invited to be a Rocket Mom. When I became a Rocket Mom I had about 35 lens and wasn't moving to fast at creating them. Near the end of the first session of Rocket Moms, I hit my 50th lens. I also had much more confidence in my lenses. Thank you Bonnie!!!

Lynn the WAHM

Over the last 8 months, I have went from being a SAHM to a SAH/ WAHM (stay at home/ work at home mom). It has been a huge change and one that my family is still very unsure of! But with the economy the way it is, I really had to do something. I didn't like the idea of going off to work and with my health problems and the fact that I homeschool made it almost impossible. So working from home really was the only option and I really do enjoy it. It has been a HUGE adjustment, one of which we are still trying to find a good balance for. This summer I have been spending a lot of my time trying to get ahead, so I can back off some once school starts. I've also been reading everything I can get my hands on about Affiliate Marketing and writing online.

A 80's Child!

I was definitely an 80's child! I turned 9 in 1980 and 18 in 1989, so I spent my teen years being influenced by Michael Jackson, Madonna and Prince. lol!!! Yes, I had big hair.... on rare occasions it was even a different color (with colored hair spray). I loved jelly bracelets, jelly shoes and jelly watches. I wore banana clips and big dangling earrings. I watched the Smurfs on Saturday morning. I was a true 80's girl!!!

My New Project...

This month (July 2009) I have been very busy working on a project to help find a missing little girl, named Lindsey Baum. This has been very emotionally draining at times. I got involved after there was an appeal for prayer from a woman that knew her on the eHow forum. I knew of this woman, but didn't know her too well. I feel I know her a lot better now. This woman, momwhowrites, is the mother of Lindsey's best friend and was one of the last people to see Lindsey. Lindsey left momwhowrites' home before dark to walk the 4 block home in her very small town and never made it home. Many of us on eHow have gotten involved in a full scale attempt to get the word out about Lindsey. A big part of my contribution is a Squidoo lens called, Please Help Find Missing Little Girl. This lens has been on the Top 100 list 26 days out of it's month existence and reached the lens rank of #19. As of right now it is the lens I'm the proudest of!!! It is also the lens I'm not making one cent on. lol!!! Yep, it is going to charity, The Polly Klass Foundation and hopefully because it, not only Lindsey will be found, but other missing children.

(This is not a new project anymore, but unfortunately, Lindsey has still not been found so I keep this here as a reminder to keep looking.)

Cool lens and great ideas. Great learning how someone becomes a Giant Squid, encouraging for others. Thank you for sharing your insights.
Was Lindsey ever found? Missing children is such a tragedy for society, cannot imagine what it must be like for the parents! We have friends who had this experience and have never totally recovered. I do hope Lindsey is back with her family...

Congratulations on all your accomplishments in Squidoo and in life. I'm always encouraged to see parents home-school their children because I know it's a challenging role to play, but it's worth it...all the best! **Blessed by a Squid-Angel and featured on Squid Angel Blessings by AJ**

Giant Squid is my long-range goal -- and it will take me quite a while to even begin to get 'near', much less have any plans for Giant 100, but the 'journey' so far has been fun! Meanwhile I have to finish my latest 'personal' project, which is "moving" half-way across country the end of September (27 days and counting) :-).

Congratulations to you for your accomplishments in the "Giant " arena ... and thank you for all you do to support and help fellow lensmasters here on Squidoo. I've known you in RocketMoms and elsewhere around Squidoo and always appreciate everything you do. Very nice lensography ~~Blessed by a Squid Angel~~
