- Great lens! Hungry Heart come from an interesting period in Springsteen's career, and the live tours from the early 1980's are still some of the best shows that I've ever seen by any band. The photo on the 45 Single sleeve was taken on the Asbury Park boardwalk, and is a familiar scene to the locals of the time -- it looks really different now.

- Bruce Springsteen is one of my top-5 favorite musicians and Hungrey Heart is one of my favorite songs by Bruce.
But I have to say that my favorite performance by Bruce is not on one of his own songs.
It is on the saga song, "Long Black Veil", a 1959 country ballad, written by Danny Dill and Marijohn Wilkin and originally recorded by Lefty Frizzell.
It is told from the point of view of an executed man falsely accused of murder. He refuses to provide an alibi, since on the night of the murder he was having an affair with his best friend's wife, and would rather die and take their secret to his grave than admit the truth.
The chorus describes the woman's mourning visits to his gravesite, wearing a long black veil and enduring a howling wind.
The song was performed by Bruce Springsteen on his 2006 Seeger Sessions Band Tour and can be listened to and seen at:
