The Police

The Police are a highly successful rock band made made up of Sting (vocals, bass guitar), Andy Summers (guitar, vocals) and Stewart Copeland (drums, percussion, vocals).

The band became popular throughout the world in the early 1980s, although they had started to achieve a strong audience in the UK during the late 1970's. Their first single however, Roxanne, didn't achieve success on it's original release, but the second time around it caught on, and instantly raised them to the level of a top band.

Their music is a style of rock, influenced by jazz and reggae music. Their 1983 album, Synchronicity, was number one in the UK and the US.

The band broke up in the mid-1980s, but reunited in early 2007 with the announcement that they were undertaking a world tour. The tour was scheduled from the middle of that year on until mid-2008, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their hit single "Roxanne" and also, to a lesser extent, that of their formation as a group. As was to be expected, the success of the tour proved that the band are still major artists.

Walking On The Moon - 45rpm

Song Lyrics: Walking On The Moon by The Police

Written by: Sting from the Album: "Reggatta de Blanc" - 1979

Giant steps are what you take
Walking on the moon
I hope my legs don't break
Walking on the moon
We could walk forever
Walking on the moon
We could live together
Walking on, walking on the moon

Walking back from your house
Walking on the moon
Walking back from your house
Walking on the moon
Feet they hardly touch the ground
Walking on the moon
My feet don't hardly make no sound
Walking on, walking on the moon

Some may say
I'm wishing my days away
No way
And if it's the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrow's another day
You stay
I may as well play

Giant steps are what you take
Walking on the moon
I hope my legs don't break
Walking on the moon
We could walk forever
Walking on the moon
We could be together
Walking on, walking on the moon

Some may say
I'm wishing my days away
No way
And if it's the price I pay
Some say
Tomorrow's another day
You stay
I may as well play

Keep it up, keep it up
Keep it up, keep it up
Keep it up, keep it up
Keep it up, keep it up...
(Repeat and fade)
