Mac OS X Adventure Games

Adventure games are great, especially when they are for Mac OS X. I am trying to keep track of the best adventure games available for the Mac right here. My favorites are the series by Telltale games--Monkey Island and Sam & Max. They also make the new Back to the Future series which is new and I haven't played it yet. The Nancy Drew series is also good, and they have started making Mac versions of their games.

Also please note that the adventure games listed are point & click adventures, where you find items and use them to solve issues in the game, and many adventure games also have some puzzles to complete. I am not including other games that may be listed in the "adventure genre" on the box or in stores but are not really my kind of adventure game. Also, I don't consider hidden object games as adventure games.

Telltale Games is currently having deals (though not everything may be available for the Mac so you will have to read the details)

The Sam & Max Series Games

The first Sam & Max series from Telltale Games, Sam & Max Save the World, does not have a Mac version yet, but they are planning on releasing Mac versions for all of their games. The second 2 series: Beyond Time & Space and The Devil's Playground both have Mac versions.

Sam and Max: Beyond Time & Space Series

Sam & Max: Beyond Time & Space - the second Sam & Max series, there's a Mac version. (The first series, Sam & Max Save the World is also on the page in the link and it doesn't have a Mac version, however the cheapest way to buy all 3 series is to get the Sam & Max Complete Collection for $39.95 rather than around $30 - $35 for individual seasons.)
The episodes in the Sam & Max:Beyond Time & Space series are:
Episode 201: Ice Station Santa
Episode 202: Moai Better Blues
Episode 203: Night of the Raving Dead
Episode 204: Chariots of the Dogs
Episode 205: What's New, Beelzebub?

Sam & Max: Beyond Time & Space Series is available on Steam as "Sam & Max Complete" - however it is just the first two seasons, the first season being available on PC only, and probably not as good of a deal as getting Sam & Max Collection directly from Telltale games where you get all 3 seasons (the second & 3rd seasons being available for the Mac)

Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse Series

Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse - the third and latest game in the Sam & Max series from Telltale games has a Mac version. The most economical way to buy Sam and Max games is to get the Sam and Max Collection instead of buying an individual season for around $30-$35.
The 5 episodes in this game are:
Episode 1: The Penal Zone
Episode 2: The Tomb of Sammun-Mak
Episode 3: They Stole Max's Brain!
Episode 4: Beyond the Alley of the Dolls
Episode 5: The City That Dares Not Sleep

Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse is also available on Steam. Sometimes it may be discounted more on Steam than buying just The Devil's Playhouse individually if you don't want to get the Sam & Max collection mentioned above.

Tales of Monkey Island - The Series

Tales of Monkey Island (The Series from Telltale Games) is an adventure game in 5 episodes (chapters). You can get the whole series for Mac OS X from Telltale Games. There is also a Mac Demo available.
Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal
Chapter 2: The Siege of Spinner Cay
Chapter 3: Lair of Leviathan
Chapter 4: The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood
Chapter 5: Rise of the Pirate God

Tales of Monkey Island Complete Pack is available on Steam as well. Sometimes it is discounted more on Steam than buying directly from Telltale games, but of course you would have to use the Steam client to play the game.

Myst V: End of Ages

The final Myst game says it's for Mac OS X, however the game is a few years old and I don't if it will run on newer Macs. I haven't bought it (currently it's expensive for an old game) so I have not tried it on my newer intel IMAC.
This is what Amazon says about it's Mac requirements--
Mac Requirements: OS XR 10.2.8 through 10.4.0 (10.3.9 or higher recommended.)
So buy this one at your own risk. :)

The other Myst games I saw say they are for Mac OS9 and lower.
