Mac and Cheese

Kraft Dinner was introduced in 1937 and is the cause of the popularity of mac and cheese. It was an instant success due to the shortage of milk and dairy during World War II.

Over the years, the formula was perfected and new varieties of mac and cheese were introduced.

Recently, other healthier choices have been introduced such as organic and whole wheat Kraft Dinner.

The more memorable product launches were the introduction of Thick 'N Creamy, Four Cheese, and Premium White Cheddar.

There were also different promotional versions of this famous dish introduced over the years including Super Mario Brothers, Shrek, and SpongeBob SquarePants.

Chances are, your life has been touched by Kraft Dinner or other mac and cheese dishes over the past 71 years.

One of the biggest problems that I had as I got older was that I couldn't eat as much Kraft Dinner as I used to. The reason was that I ate so much in my youth, that it started to not sit so well in my stomach.

It was at this point that I learned about Annie's Homegrown Mac and Cheese. I bought my first box at Costco, and it had organic white cheddar and shells in the box (okay, I bought 12 boxes).

Needless to say, it is some of the best mac and cheese that I had ever had. Better flavor, better cheese, and the little shells that they use are much firmer than the Kraft Dinner macaroni.

Since mac and cheese is so easy to make, many people have started to make their own creations at home.

The key ingredients for a homemade mac and cheese meal is macaroni and cheese sauce - after that the rest can be left up to your imagination.

So good examples of what you might find in a homemade mac and cheese meal are onions, bacon, ketchup, and whatever else you can think of.
