Maclaren is one of the most trusted manufacturers when it comes to buggies, strollers and pushchairs, and rightly so. Over the years the Maclaren brand had earned the reputation of making sturdy, durable, reliable, high quality pushchairs.
However if you are considering buying the Maclaren Techno XLR, you may be wondering if this pushchair is suitable for your needs. Join me as I explore its Pros, Cons, and potential issues you may have with it.
Maclaren Techno XLR: The Pros
Most owners have observed that the XLR pushchair is very sturdy/durable even after prolonged, daily use. It is no wonder that Maclaren is known for excellent workmanship.
For parents who are inconvenienced with logging around their pushchairs in public transportation, the XLR offers them the solution. It is so easy to push up curbs and maneuver around tight corners. This feature makes it different from the rest.
Another great thing about it is that compared to other travel systems, the Techno XLR is a lot lighter, weighing only 8 kg - and that's including the hood and shopping basket! Perfect for those who live on upstairs flats, this pushchair is so handy and easy to carry up and down stairs.
Users will love the high handles of the Techno XLR, especially taller people who would often suffer from backaches from using the unsuitably low handle settings. The XLR is unique, with adjustable handles have settings from 110cm to 130cm. The handles of many pushchairs available in the market only have 110cm as the highest setting.
Another plus is the Techno XLR's hood with viewing window and sun visor, which is big enough to unzip from the back and extend forward. This would give your babies protection from the sun. For your added convenience, it is installed with pockets and net bag at the back of the hood for your traveling accessories.
Another great feature is the seat's 4 reclining positions. For newly born infants, it can be adjusted to more than 150 degrees. The latest 2009 model is provided with a simple lever for single handed adjustment. This will make it easy for parents to adjust the reclining position even when their hands are full.
Maclaren Techno XLR: Cons
The shopping basket is a disappointment in my opinion because it can only hold up to 2 kg.
The XLR is not recommended for people 5'1'' to 5'3'' in height. If you are of this height range, you may find it uncomfortable to push the XLR because the lowest setting of the handle will come to about chest to armpit level.
One thing to consider is the seat is not reversible. It will not be appropriate for people who would prefer a pushchair with their babies facing towards the pusher during the child's first few months.
Lastly, because it's not an all terrain pushchair, I would only recommend the XLR for city dwellers. I'm not saying it won't cope well for off road use, but if you plan to use it heavily on country roads or off the beaten track, I think you'll be better off getting an all-terrain pushchair.
