Madagascar - The Island in the Indian Ocean

My parents are French, but dis duty brought my father to Madagascar, where I was born and lived. A white kid among lot's of black kids.

Madagascar used to be a French colony at that time, so we were expats, but as I was a kid, to me things seemed quite natural. The towns shown below are the towns where we lived during our stay in Madagascar.

I have never been back to Madagascar since I left, together with my parents, more than 40 years ago. Independence has not brought all the people of Madagascar hoped, and form what I can see in documentaries, the country has changed a lot. I prefer to keep my happy memories and will not go back.

But never the less, this island has a lot going for it and here are some facts, videos and books that might help you learn soemthing about this East African island:

Madagascar - The Animated Films

Madagascar, produced by Disney's Dreamworks is a great comedy. The animated films show some aspects of Madagascar's fauna, wrapped up in godd and funny stories. Hopefully these two movies will attract some attention to the country....???
