Madame Squidtema At The Giant Squid Fair

As I look around, I see a motorcycle that looks a little familiar. I hear voices coming from the tent so I think I better wait out here until they are finished. Sounds like a guy talking. Oops, here he comes.

"Alex? Is that you?"

"Bev, fancy seeing you here!"

"So, did Madame Squidtema give you any good information? Do you think she is legit?"

"Boy, Bev, it was just a little spooky! She knew about me riding the Dragon's Tail and told me to be careful the next time I take that ride. Then she looked again into that crystal ball and told me not to be afraid of those two ghosts I keep seeing. And get this, Mothman says Hi!"

"Really! Wow, that's kind of weird that she would know about those things isn't it. Maybe she does have a gift."

"Well, the last thing she told me was that sometime after September 30th that the number 100 wouldn't be so significant to me anymore. She said that I would make the Club."

"Gee, Alex, I sure hope she is right about that one for you! Oh darn, that lady just went around me!"

"Well, it's a long ride back to Ohio so I better get going back. I'll catch you later."

Well, I guess I'll just have to wait outside this tent a little longer. As I was talking to Alex, a lady went around me and went on in. Oh good, here she comes.

"Oh my goodness! Sylvia I didn't recognize you as you went in! Ok, what did you think is Madame Squidtema for real?"

"Well, Bev, let me tell you she knows things! She first looked in her crystal ball and told me it was a tie between Gunsmoke and Bonanza. They were both equally as good."

"Mmmm, anything else?"

"Yeah, she told me that I would get over being a clutterbug since I was teaching others how to get organized."

"Well, Sylvia, you have done some good stuff on binders."

"Then she told me that I had really given people some good ideas about homemade gift baskets. A little creepy that she knew so much about me, don't ya think?"

"Did she say anything about your future? This was all stuff you have already done."

"Yep, just before I left she said not to sweat it about getting into the Giant 100 Club. She said that I had it in the bag."

Well, I just don't know about this lady called Madame Squidtema. Something tells me there is something funny going on. Now, I do believe that there truly are people who have the ability to tell us about ourselves through the use of meditation, tarot cards, and other means. I'm a bit skeptical about that crystal ball though. That seems to be used more by people of lessor abilities and are usually people who can get you to talk about yourself and then give you answers that you want to hear. I think I'll stroll around some more before I go in. Oh, look there's Brenda! I'll ask her if she has visited this fortune teller.

"Brenda, have you gone to see Madame Squidtema?"

"Yes, Bev and she knew all about my 10 year quest of trying to make Martha Stewart's Lemon Meringue Pie. Now how would she know that? She also said that some time in the future I would be rewarded for my lemon cupcakes. Wonder what she meant by that."

"Look, here comes Bonnie. I'll ask her what she thinks. Bonnie have you been to the fortune teller's tent?"

"Bev, the lady knew that I was a Giant Squid Organizer, Head Rocketmom, and quite a bit more about me. I don't know...I think she might be the real deal. There is Robin over there. Why don't you go check with her."

"Robin, I'm glad I ran into you. This Madame Squidtema, can she really tell fortunes? She sure seems to know a lot about everyone I've talked to."

"She knew that I am a Giant Squid Organizer and she knew that I was responsible for getting this Community Fair underway. She wouldn't give me any clue as to who the Blue Ribbon Winners would be though."

I finally squeezed myself into Madame Squidtema's tent to get my own reading from her. Wow this fortune teller sure is busy!

"So, Madame I hear tell you have quite a gift with this fortune telling stuff."

"Oh, BevsPaper I knew you would show up today. What's all this I hear about your being skeptical about my gifts?"

"I'm really sorry Madame. I just have this thing about crystal balls. I've always thought they were fake."

"Well, Little Miss Skeptic let's just see what my ball says you have in your future. Mmm. I see something blue. It looks like a ribbon of some sort. Does that mean anything to you?"

"Mmmm, they are awarding blue ribbons for lenses in categories for the fair. But that can't be in my future."

"The crystal ball says it is..."



Well I'll be darned! She was right!

Bevspaper, back at the fairgrounds with an update on this story. My follow up investigation reveals that Alex and Sylvia had a very good reading with the fortune teller. She was correct both Alex and Sylvia became members of the Giant Squid 100 Club at the end of the September 2009 Giant Squid Challenge.

Do you remember that Madame told Brenda that sometime in the future she would be rewarded for her cupcakes? Well, she was right again! In May of 2010, Brenda's lens on Lemon Cupcakes received LOTD (Lens of the Day).
