About Barcodes and Made in USA
Chinese businessmen KNOW that many are beginning to avoid 'made in China' so are no longer printing that on their products.
Barcodes with numbers starting with 690-695 are made in China. Avoid!
Barcodes numbers beginning with 00-13 are made in USA or Canada. Buy!

Ways to Find Products 'Made in the USA'
At any website, use the searchbox and enter 'made in USA' or 'American made' to filter out the foreign-made goods. I found my lawn mower this way, made in USA.
We often make our decisions based on convenience, so begin finding ways to make buying USA simpler and spread that word. On many websites you can enter 'made in USA' in the search box and pull up only products made here. Also search the lists below of stores more likely to carry items from USA manufacturers. For athletic shoes, New Balance is the only brand made here and they are top quality so why buy anything else???

A state law was actually passed forbidding sales of American Flags made in China. An American flag made anywhere else but America? How does THAT make sense? The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) was charged with preventing deception and unfairness in the marketplace.Often a product labeled 'made in USA' might have been assembled here, yet made from parts or materials that were purchased from other countries.
The FTC Act gives the Commission the power to bring law enforcement actions against false or misleading claims that a product is of U.S. origin. 'Made in USA' - Watch What You Read
You can't always judge a book by its cover, and this 'Made in America' book is... NOT!
There's a book for sale on amazon.com called 'Made in America' written by Nick Freeth. It's a beautiful text that describes many great American products and compliments our manufacturing ingenuity over the past 120+ years.Yet here's the caveat...page 2 of the book gives the real picture:
PRINTED AND BOUND IN CHINA
So you might be thinking, well at least all of the products listed inside the book are American made, right? WRONG!
*Levis 501's - The last US factory closed down in 2003
*PEZ dispensers - At least the candies are US made, dispensers? Not.
*Converse "All Stars" were made in the USA until 2001.
*iPods have NEVER been American made! China manufactured iPods since day one.
*Ralph Lauren produces ALL of its shirts in third world countries throughout Asia.
*Nike Air Jordans - NO Nike shoes, much less the 'Air Jordans' are produced anywhere even near the US.
Be careful what you read and believe. The above are just a few examples, among numerous others. Maybe this book should be re-titled 'Invented in America...Made Elsewhere.' Books of lists such as this one are a publishing favorite and the Made in America type probably come out every year or so. While the book is attractive and includes interesting stories about seredippity inventions and 'Did You Know?' fun snippets, the author either got carried away or confused his research on many of his 'facts' regarding what was and is made in the USA.

- America will never become the production capital like china due to major regulations the prices would be outrages compared to chinese made goods were the regulations are well their are none.

- The problem is that blindly buying products made in America without regards to quality and price is a big mistake. The best product in terms of price / quality needs to win otherwise we give inferior companies a short term boost while they will inevitably fail.

- I agree and am trying to buy more made in USA products. I recently bought a pair of New Balance shoes made in USA and learned you still have to be careful about New Balance because some of their shoes aren't made in the US.
