Baa Baa Blam Blam Boom!
Twisting the binding nethers of power, Mages have the distinct honor of being more enhanced magically than any other class. So much so that that they need little of the mortal world to survive.
In this lens, we will look at why playing a mage can be very fun as well as how powerful this class truly is.

Talent Specs
Quoth The Magus, Nethermore...

Talent Spec: Arcane
Burning Mana Like Tinder

Most mages don't spec full arcane. That being said, the Arcane Frost build is still very effective, so there is something to be said about the sheer amount of power this spec has to offer.
Most mages will mix this in occasionally to their build to bolster various spells and abilities. Arcane is kind of the upgrade talent tree, making upgrades in here can effect several other areas of your character and be beneficial all over.
Arcane power in the palm of your hand won't guarantee victory, but it's a good thing to have if you know where to put the points.
Talent Spec: Fire
FIRE!!!

As we have discussed with other classes, burning your enemies into piles of charred ash is a time honored tradition amongst magic users. And this tree is no exception.
While the fire build is probably more useful at a lower level, someone with points in the right places will be able to use this build to effectively deal a ton of damage in the game. This makes the mage something of a glass cannon, great firepower, fragile body.
Fire spec is useful for grinding, raid groups, and PvP. However, it's not usually the chosen favorite among mages as you burn mana quickly and draw a lot of aggro.
Fire. It's a classic.
Talent Spec: Frost
Freeze Them In Place & Beat The Crap Out Of Them

The frost tree is usually the most popular talent spec for mages because of it's ability to generate damage while slowing an enemy down, sometimes completely. Frost spec also allows for serious crowd control and can allow a mage to take on as many 8-10 individual targets in a group if they can swing it right.
Arcane Frost builds are still incredibly popular as well as Fire Frost builds that mix heavy damage with speed decreasing effects. Either way, it's well worth keeping an eye on this one because the second you underestimate a frost mage, they will kill you.
Frost is great for PvP, decent for grinding, and great for groups both large and small. It's an overall fun spec to play, and powerful to boot.
Frost. Kill your enemies And have ice cream at the Same Time.
