Maggie and the Ferocious Beast

Maggie and the Ferocious Beast is an animated television series based on the books by Michael Paraskevas and his mother Betty. Five-year-old Maggie creates her own map of her imaginary world Nowhere Land. She imagines that her stuffed toys Beast and Hamilton Hocks come to life. The show also features friends like mice, cows, and rabbits.

My three year old son absolutely loves this show! He watches it everyday. I am thinking of having a Maggie and the Ferocious Beast theme party for his birthday in February, so I started searching for party supplies.

Since this is an older show, I wasn't certain if there would be any birthday party supplies available. But, to my surprise, I found there is! I have included a large assortment of these party items below.

You will also find some other great birthday ideas including games and activities for your party. While you are here, check out the hard to find toys and gifts I have uncovered during my search.

Create your own Nowhere Land!

Since Nowhere Land is a beautiful tropical island with a beach and palm trees, you could use these scenery sets to decorate the party room.

Birthday Cake Ideas

1. Bake a basic sheet cake and then top it with a magnifying glass, binoculars or a spyglass. You can use as many of these items as you want to decorate the top of your cake.

2. Another idea would be to create a magnifying glass cake.

3. Design a Ferocious Beast Cake. Bake a sheet cake and cover it with yellow icing. Then, place on red fondant circles for the beast's spots.

Regardless of which cake you chose to make, you can print out Maggie and the Ferocious Beast images from the Internet and attach them to toothpicks. You can then insert them into the finished cake to pull the theme together. I did something similar with my Little Bear cake. It came out very nice.

Have a Nowhere Land Picnic!

Maggie and her friends are always having fun picnics. This would be a terrific party activity at your Maggie and the Ferocious Beast theme birthday. This activity could be done indoors or outdoors. Simply fill the basket with lemonade and treats and lay out the checkered table cloth.

If you have the picnic indoors, the kids can watch the movie, Puzzles & Picnics, as they enjoy their delicious snacks!

Party Games

Treasure Hunt: When the kids arrive at the party, hand out the binoculars and explorer hats listed above. (the party guests can take these items home as party favors afterwards.) Create a map of Nowhere Land and have a fun treasure hunt using ideas from the show.

Pin the Red Dot on the Ferocious Beast: Purchase a large poster board. Draw the beast onto the board. Trust me, you don't need to be Picasso to pull this off. Just draw a large yellow animal, with horns and large red dots. The kid's will get it. Leave one red dot off and have the kid's try to help the Ferocious Beast find his missing dot.

The Ferocious Beast Spot Toss: Cut the Ferocious Beast out of a large piece of yellow felt and cut the spots out of red felt. Have the children toss the red dots onto the Ferocious Beast.

Help Hamilton Find His Way Home: Get a large cardboard box like the one Hamilton lives in. Use a plush Hamilton doll or create your own Hamilton. You can print an image of Hamilton from the Internet and attach it to sock stuffed with tissue. Kind of like a Hamilton Sock Monkey! The kids can each take a turn tossing Hamilton into his cardboard box and helping him find his way home.

Customize a Party Pinata:
You can use a customizable pinata to create a Maggie and the Ferocious Beast pinata for your party. Simply attach one of the theme dinner plates listed above to the front and you are ready to go!
