Celtic Music as "Chamber Folk Music"

Maggie's Music is a recording label representing twelve performers of Celtic music including Irish music and Scottish music, Early American music and Appalachian music. The label was started by hammered dulcimer player Maggie Sansone who has released a number of solo albums on the label and has recorded with other label artists. The names of many of the artists show up as supporting musicians on each other's recordings. Together they have created a sound best described in this quote from The Washington Post:

"Gaelic traditions are alive and well with Maggie's Music --a driving force behind the popularity of Celtic 'chamber folk,' which combines the intricate harmonies of classical music with the energy and spirit of folk music ."

Maggie's Music also sells related tune books and instructional materials from Mel Bay Publications. Much of the material is by Maggie's Music artists.
