Magic: The Gathering- My favorite m12 cards
Ranked #31,295 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #703,990 overall
The M12 Core Set
I was really excited this year for the MTG coreset. I had seen some of the pre-releases and after the banning of Jace 2.0 and Stoneforge Mystic I was ready to see some new cards.
In this lens I want to highlight some of the cards in M12 that really caught my attention- as a casual player.
My name is Aadel, and I have been playing MTG for several years now. I mostly play Legacy and pauper but I have been known to create a Standard deck now and again.
Some of my favorite decks to play include green pauper stompy, mono-black aggro, and blue merfolk and mill.
You can find me on Friday nights gathered around our dining room table gaming with my husband, oldest daughter, and friends.

#1- Adaptive Automaton
When I saw this card I was really excited to incorporate him into some of my theme decks. Goblins, merfolk, fairies, any deck that needs a Lord can benefit from this guy.
Not only does he pump all your other creatures up with the same type, he also gets the bonuses from your creatures.
I am planning on building a deck around him in the near future- who knows, maybe it will be frogs.
Adaptive Automaton
Converted Mana Cost: 3
Types: Artifact Creature - Construct
Card Text: As Adaptive Automaton enters the battlefield, choose a creature type.
Adaptive Automaton is the chosen type in addition to its other types.
Other creatures you control of the chosen type get +1/+1.

#2 Distress
Distress is not a new card. It has been around the block a few times. However, I was excited to see this included in M12. It is an old staple that works great in black control and disrupt decks. Throw it in a pauper deck- your friends will thank you. ;0)
The artwork on the new card is great also. Great artwork + great card = pure awesome
Distress
Converted Mana Cost: 2
Types: Sorcery
Card Text: Target player reveals his or her hand. You choose a nonland card from it. That player discards that card.

#3 Skinshifter
This is an extremely versatile creature card that can be used as an aggressive attacker or a defender. It has the potential to go up against Squadron Hawks. It can trample over Goyf early game.
My husband immediately bought a playset of these bad boys.
I can see it going in some great mana-ramp decks for an early answer to flyers and other crazy creatures.
Skinshifter
Converted Mana Cost: 2
Types: Creature - Human Shaman
Card Text: Pay 1 Green: Choose one - Until end of turn, Skinshifter becomes a 4/4 Rhino and gains trample; or until end of turn, Skinshifter becomes a 2/2 Bird and gains flying; or until end of turn, Skinshifter becomes a 0/8 Plant. Activate this ability only once each turn.

#4 Jace, Memory Adept
I love mill decks. I had a Jace Beleren deck that would run Tome Scour and Archive Trap that would just decimate the most carefully laid out plans. This new Jace has definite possibility.
His 0 cost ability is modeled after Glimpse, The Unthinkable from Ravinca.
Jace, Memory Adept
Converted Mana Cost: 5
Types: Planeswalker - Jace
Card Text:
+1: Draw a card. Target player puts the top card of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
0: Target player puts the top ten cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
-7: Any number of target players each draw twenty cards.

#5 Stormblood Berserker
Bloodthirst is an ability I have yet to play around with. This guy has the potential to be a 3/3 for 2 mana. Ping with a Goblin Fireslinger to activate his ability.
I don't play a lot of red, but it is nice to see creatures coming out that have some stability. (They don't burn out like a sorcery or have little attack power outside of direct damage)
Stormblood Berserker
Converted Mana Cost: 2
Types: Creature - Human Berserker
Card Text: Bloodthirst 2 (If an opponent was dealt damage this turn, this creature enters the battlefield with two +1/+1 counters on it.)
Stormblood Berserker can't be blocked except by two or more creatures.
