I Love Magic Tricks
Performing magic trick illusions is a talent that many people wish they had. I have always been fascinated with magic tricks ever since I was a kid. I wouldn't miss a chance to a see a magic show or performance whether on TV or live on stage. I always wanted to know how the tricks were done, but very few performers would reveal their secret, and that drove me nuts!
A few times some of them showed me how they did the tricks. They were either a relative or a close friend. One of them was my older cousin who stayed at our house one time and did some magic tricks for me. His tricks mostly rely on speed and distraction. So although they are quite simple, they are not necessarily easy to perform, and require a lot of practice.
Then of course, there are the complex magical illusions that involve not just talents and practice but also some elaborate equipment and assistants. These include performances by well known magicians and master illusionists such as Harry Houdini, David Copperfield, David Blaine, Lance Burton, and Criss Angel.
The thing is though, once you know the secret, it takes away the mystery and hence, the fun of watching these performances. That's why I later understood why professional magicians would never reveal their secrets.

Children's Magic
Magical tricks for kids
These magic trick illusions are often performed at schools, churches or libraries, and catered for younger audiences. Therefore, the magician often times also plays the role of a comedian to make it even more fun for the kids. They may also pick a few kids to be their assistants. What kid wouldn't be excited about that?
Magic shows not only entertain children, but it can stimulate their minds as well. Curiosity has led to many important discoveries, so it's a good thing. Your kid may even end up being a magician someday if they are truly inspired.
Other Types of Magic
A few magic genres worth mentioning
Traditional street magic is performed on the street surrounded by the audience or "in the round." David Blaine's special TV show "Street Magic" aired in 1997, and since then the term street magic has also included a style of "guerrilla" performance in which magicians approach and perform for unsuspecting members of the public on the street. This type of show is designed more for TV and gains its impact from the wild reactions of the public.
Mentalism gives you the impression that the magician possesses supernatural powers to read and/or control your mind, predict future events, etc. This can be performed on stage in front of a large audience or in a smaller setting, and even for an individual person.
In theatrical seances the performer acts like a spiritualist or a medium for theatrical effect. Unfortunately, this magic genre has been known to be used by unethical people to commit fraud by pretending that they are truly able to communicate with spirits.
Bizarre magic uses horror and the supernatural as viable entertainment choices in addition to the standard commercial magic approaches of comedy and wonder. This genre of magic is typically performed in a close-up venue, although a few performers have done it quite effectively on stage. This sounds like my kind of magic :)
Online magic tricks are designed to function on a computer screen. So your computer essentially becomes the magician. Some online magic tricks recreate traditional card tricks and require user participation, while others are based on mathematical, geometrical and/or optical illusions.
One popular online magic site is Esmeralda's Crystal Ball.

The Magician's Oath
"As a magician I promise never to reveal the secret of any illusion to a non-magician, unless that one swears to uphold the Magician's Oath in turn. I promise never to perform any illusion for any non-magician without first practicing the effect until I can perform it well enough to maintain the illusion of magic."
