I'm intrigued by using cinnamon in the sauce - I think of that as a baking spice, so this is quite different.

Hi! Got an urge to make meatloaf today (last time was maybe 20 yrs ago), and I'm looking for a more interesting sauce than the plain ketchup most recipes suggest. I'm going to try this. Thanks!

Enjoyed your lens. We met at Weistling's Show at BnR Gallery. We talked at length about blogging and the fact that I am clueless. Please don't tell. My kids think I am savvy.

LOL, glad to see you here!
  • KonaGirl Jan 18, 2011 @ 5:04 pm | delete
The cinnamon in this recipe is the intriguing ingredient here as the rest of it is just basic ketchup ingredients. I must try this "magical" cinnamon tomato sauce!
  • Heather426 Jan 18, 2011 @ 6:03 pm | delete
Well I don't put onion in my ketchup either:) so maybe it's the onions and cinnamon:)

I need to make a meat loaf one of these days again, and invite my kids over to get together. The sauce looks divine. I usually just put ketchup on top to bake it, but this sounds like a great idea to me. (psst...what UFO?)
  • KimGiancaterino Sep 8, 2010 @ 9:50 pm | delete
I'll have to make a batch of this magical sauce for my husband. He's our meatloaf expert! We have tons of tomatoes this year too, so I can make it fresh.
  • southshoretees May 27, 2010 @ 3:54 pm | delete
I LOVE meatloaf. I've actually never made it though. It's one of those things that's much better when you eat it made from home though as opposed to a restaurant. It needs a special touch to make it taste good. Nice work!
  • sjwalker Jan 25, 2010 @ 6:34 pm | delete
WoW! This magic sauce was amazing. Took it to a potluck and got rave reviews and wanted recipe. Told them it was my magic recipe....very funny. Thanks so much. Was a last minute find and it was great!

The sauce and the meatloaf recipe look really easy and tasty. I'll be back to use them very soon (she goes off to check the freezer). Plain and simple, my favourite kind of food. 5*s

  • CCGAL Jun 27, 2009 @ 10:07 pm | delete
Both recipes read delicious! Very nice lens - and how cool to feature a vegetarian recipe for meatloaf - I'm going to go read that next. Thanks!

We always put catsup on meatloaf. I'm certainly going to try this recipe. With brown sugar and vinegar in your recipe I wonder if it tastes somewhat like catsup.

I love meatloaf, any way shape or form. The sauce sounds yummy. We're going to try it the next time we have meatloaf.

I can almost smell this - yum! Lensrolled to Luscious and Low-Carb: Meatloaf, and 5*****!

PS, I find chopping the onions small and sauteing them first makes them soft and sweet and no one minds them!
  • OhMe May 6, 2009 @ 4:53 am | delete
I have never made a meat loaf sauce with cinnamon in it. That is interesting. I have never put oatmeal in my meat loaf either so this lens has really been a recipe education on one of our favorite dishes. I will definitely try your version. Great lens.
  • Jimmie May 6, 2009 @ 12:51 am | delete
You are so right about a good sauce. I would love to print this out and use it the next time I make meatloaf.

  • Treasures-By-Brenda May 5, 2009 @ 2:28 pm | delete
Obviously, I found your lens (through Rocket Moms, of course.) I think you've done a great job, you are right about calling things magical or other special names making food taste good to children!

By the way, I've never seen the mini crockpots before. They're cute.

Don't forget to submit your lens to Culinary Favorites From A to Z once the lens is 'live' on Squidoo!
