Add Power to Ritual
Correspondences are used in magic and ritual to increase the effectiveness of the magical operation being performed.
This is a collection of my web articles on different correspondences including symbols, herbs, crystals, colors, deities and more. Some of these are on Squidoo but others are at HubPages and Suite 101.
This will be a growing list. I hope these articles can be a good starting point for your magical journey.
What is a Correspondence?
By dictionary definition, a correspondence denotes a similarity between things or ideas. In magic, a correspondence is an item that carries the energy that is similar to what you want to achieve. For instance, you might burn rose incense and a red candle if you want to attract a passionate love as the rose is a well known symbol for love and red is a color of passion. This is sympathetic magic. In other words, like attracts like.Utilizing correspondences in magic is nothing new. In fact, medieval magical grimoires abound with them. Correspondences are used in simple and elaborate magic by practitioners from various backgrounds from kitchen witches to ceremonial magicians.
*The illustration is a pentacle from The Key of Solomon, the grimoire attributed to King Solomon but believed to have been written some time during the Italian Renaissance or possibly earlier.
