Coin Magic Tricks

Imagine being able to impress your friends or even people you don't know with an amazing coin magic trick. Do a few coin magic tricks right and you'll be the center of attention with people pleading with you to tell them how it's done.

The thing about coin tricks is that the majority of people can only do the simple tricks that most already know, or can easily work them out. However, anyone can learn the advanced tricks that truly amaze. It just takes practice and of course the instructions for some of the best coin magic tricks around. All of the famous magicians had to start somewhere; David Copperfield, David Blaine, Derren Brown, the list goes on, and there's no reason why can't learn just a few of the tricks that they use.

Many card tricks and coin tricks make use of sleight of hand and this is where the majority of your practice will be needed. Learning the tricks is one thing, but having good sleight of hand is another. Furthermore, you should practice your timing during the tricks and the wording and chat that you do to grab your audiences' attention whilst you carry out the trick. This will all become second nature after a while of practicing.

Although I would say I'm pretty good at coin magic tricks and card tricks now, when I first started I could hardly shuffle a deck of cards never mind impress people with tricks and use sleight of hand. In fact the very first coin trick I learnt was so simple that anyone could do this right now. Here it goes:

- Pick up two coins and place one in each hand. A coin in the center of one of your hands, and the other coin also in the palm (on the other hand) but nearer to the thumb. - As you turn your hands over and hit down on the table the coin that was nearer the thumb should flick under the other hand. Both coins are now both under the same hand (hopefully!). - Ask your audience where the coins are. They will normally say that a coin is under each hand, with which you left both hands from the table to reveal both coins had been under the same hand.

Simple, don't you think!

There are plenty more coin magic tricks that are far more impressive, and learning them is really exciting. The same goes for card tricks.

Impress your friends with great magic tricks by learning from my recommended resource at Coin Magic Tricks.

Magic Explained

Why do you want to learn how to do magic tricks?

Probably because they are pretty cool to watch and you can't help but imagine what your buddies will be thinking if you were to perform some of those tricks for them.

Ok, so let's say that you love magic and you want to learn how to do magic tricks so you can show your friends and have them guessing how you did them all night long. But since there are so many types of tricks to choose from, which should you pick? Let me give you a couple of my favorites.

1. Close-Up Magic

Close-Up Magic, like the name suggests, is when you do tricks that are up close and personal for a small group of people. Places like your house, office or your local pub. The fact that it is so personal is what sets the great atmosphere for the tricks.

Of course when you are first learning how to do magic tricks, you won't be able to do the stuff that Criss Angel can do, but there are many easier tricks that you can perform in this type of intimate setting.

For example you can do card and coin tricks. These are great to perform because of how flexible these types of tricks are. Most people have a deck of cards in their house or coins in their pocket, so depending on the trick, you can use their cards or coins to do some sleight of hand or mind reading tricks. People are even more amazed when you use their stuff to pull off your tricks.

2. Illusions

Illusions in my opinion are the most entertaining of all of the magic arts. They can also be the hardest to master. If you are just learning how to do magic tricks, then you should probably start off by doing some of the easier tricks first.

The beauty of illusions is that when the more complicated ones are done correctly, the audience walks away both amazed and confused because they can't believe what they have just seen.

Now, while the very experienced magicians can do these illusions like it's second nature, the beginner will probably struggle for a while to make it look real. But let's be realistic here...the pros have practiced their illusions for many years.

It's probably a good idea for a beginner to start off with some of the easier tricks like the interlocking metal rings for example. These rings have a hard to see splitting point that will need a little work to find but with enough practice you can make it look like you're a pro.

Once you have perfected these easier magic illusions, then you can move on to the more challenging ones. The more challenging illusions of course will need lots of practice, but don't give up because once you do get them down, you will totally blow away your audience.

Look at the master of illusion Criss Angel... do you think he learned how to do magic tricks overnight? Heck no!

String Magic

String tricks are just like rope tricks (only smaller!) Here is a good one.

You roll a bit of string into a ball in your fingers. The thread goes into your mouth and you swallow it.

You look like you are in pain (what the heck, you just ate string!). You bare your stomach and actually pull the string out of your skin.

Okay, to perform this trick, you need to pieces of thread of the same color. You also need some "new skin" latex paint for covering cuts and scrapes or something just like that. (N.B. You can get that paint at a pharmacy).

And here's how you actually do it.

Start by painting a square on your stomach with that special paint. It should be about two inches square. After it has dried, you can carefully pull it away from your skin; it then forms a pocket.

Roll one of the pieces of string into a loose ball, and place it inside the little pocket of the fake skin paint. Be sure to leave just a little bit hanging out of the pocket.

Take a little makeup and blend the latex paint pocket into the color of your skin so that it disappears.

Now you are ready. Take the other piece of string and roll it up into a ball. Put it in your mouth and put it under your tongue. Then pretend to swallow.

Open your mouth to show it empty and your hands too.

Now act like you are in pain. Open your shirt and take hold of the little string poking out. Pull it out slowly and make it seem like it really hurts.
