The Magic Lens Fairy

I arrived in The Land of Squid in a magical ball of light that hovered over the Squidoo Sea. The Squidoo Sea was a colorful ocean and I could feel the warmth from heated waters below me. I looked around for land, but saw nothing that looked solid enough to put my feet on.

After a few minutes of hovering above the water I had the strangest thought. I found myself trying to rationalize leaving the safety of the light ball for the ocean just a few feet below. I struggled with myself momentarily, but decided I would go for a swim. As soon as I had decided the light bubble evaporated and I found myself swimming in the warm ocean water.

After swimming around for a few minutes I decided to go underwater and look for some fish or other ocean life. I figured that the underwater view had to be spectacular if the ocean water itself was so beautiful.

When I dipped my head below the surface I saw a colorful underwater world with flowers and stars, and even swirls of different colors were all around. I stared in amazement at the world I had discovered baffled by what my eyes were telling me they saw.

I started to swim toward the colorful new world below, curious about what I would find when I reached it. As I neared the world I would later discover was the Land of Squid, I saw a flash of light. The light was bright and colorful, and it seemed alive. I was enveloped in the light within moments of seeing it and all I could see was color.

I could feel the light moving me, and I sensed that I was being watched as I entered the The Land Of Squid. I could no longer think of anything but this new world, and I knew that I had to explore this magical place as soon as the light left me.

The light left as quickly as it appeared. I found myself in a patch of mushrooms. There were mushrooms in every color of the rainbow and they were much bigger than normal mushrooms.

I looked around the mushroom patch, taking in all of the sights. I spoke with a butterfly, laughed at a beetle made of jello, and played tag with a talking leaf.

I wandered out of the mushroom patch and down a winding road till I reached a multi-colored daisy. Unable to leave the magnificent flower's presence, I stepped closer so I could examine each petal.

I discovered something more amazing than I thought possible. There was a tiny community of fairies on each petal. The fairies were no bigger than a flea, but they glowed as if they were 10 feet tall.

When I got to the purple petal I saw only one fairy. She was standing near a tiny ocean, but next to her the ocean looked as vast as the ocean I had always known.

She seemed to be concentrating on something, so I hated to bother her, but I had to ask her why she was alone. I opened my mouth to speak, but she silenced me with the sweet tone of her voice. "Hush" was all she said, so I closed my mouth and continued to watch her.

Before my eyes she grew to a size similar to mine and in a moment she was floating beside me. I managed to squeak out a quiet "hello" then I paused to see if she would silence me again. She said "hello" back, so I decided to ask her where I was and who she was.

Her reply was, " I am the Magic Lens Fairy my dear. There will be a time when you need my help to complete your work. I will come while you sleep and fix the problems on your lens and I will bless you with my magic. You are in The Land Of Squid and since you are here from this day forth you will be known as a lensmaster. Right now you don't understand what you must do, but with help you will learn what is expected of you. You will do great things here, you will create beautiful works called lenses. More about that later, you will have plenty of time to learn about this wonderful place. But before I go I have a warning for you. Being in the Land Of Squid is a great privilege, but it comes with a price. The price is a seemingly uncontrollable urge to create more lenses."

I asked her what a lens was and she replied with a "this is where it begins...." and her voice trailed off as she grabbed my hand to show me what a lens was.

I woke up and it tooks a minute to realize that the Magic Lens Fairy was dream, but I couldn't help but laugh at her wisdom.

Man. I sure wish that Magic Lens Fairy was real.
