The Magnificent Seven (1960)

The Movie
The movie recounts the classic tale of a group of hired gunmen protecting a Mexican village from bandits. Being a Western remake of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai, there's a natural correlation between the Japanese samurai and the (at least imagined) gunfighter of the Wild West. The cast includes two eventual Academy Award winners (Brynner and Coburn), and the charisma of the cast fairly jumps off the screen. Clean, strong storytelling and the memorable Elmer Burnstein Oscar-nominated score round off this Western classic.
The Magnificent Seven has been described as "hard-pounding adventure" (Newsweek) and "an enduringly popular cinematic classic" (Leonard Maltin).

A couple of excerpts from the great scenes in this movie
Here are a couple of my favorite scenes from the movie:- In the first scene with Brynner and McQueen, they take a dead Native American in a wagon to the cemetery over the objections of the locals. While driving slowly up the street (McQueen using a borrowed shotgun), bad guys hidden in the buildings on both sides, this exchange occurs:
Brynner: "Building ahead - second story. The curtain moved."
McQueen: "I'm not in position - let him show his hand."
(A shot rings out, almost hitting them. McQueen rapidly swivels and fires, killing the shooter)
McQueen: "Did you get elected?"
Brynner (inspecting the end of his cigar, hit by the bad guy's shot): "No, but I got nominated pretty good." - Vin and Chris go to recruit Britt (James Coburn) to help them. They come upon a scene where Coburn, a knife specialist who doesn't carry a gun, is being challenged to a mock quick-draw contest by another cowboy. They draw, and the guy shoots near Coburn while Coburn throws his knife into a post next to the man. Both think they won, and the cowboy demands they do it for real. Coburn refuses, but the guy insists. They go again for real, and of course the knife sticks in the guy before he can fire his gun.
