He lived in O'ahu, Hawai'i and his show aired from 1980 to 1988. When it originally aired in prime time, it was one of the top-rated shows on television in the United States. It was a light-hearted action show with the characters a bit goofy but good. Women loved Tom Selleck; men enjoyed the show as well, perhaps in part because of the women in bikinis. It was even said that some wanted to look like Magnum.

The sixth Jesse Stone movie, called No Remorse, is being made right now.
Tom Selleck Has Since Starred As Jesse Stone in a CBS television series of movies based on the novels. The movies follow the novels closely as does Tom when he plays the character, although Selleck is much older than Stone was in the books. The author liked the Jesse Stone movies as done by Selleck and was quoted as saying, "Tom nails the character." There are eight Jesse Stone novels, five of which have been made into movies and No Remorse which is being made into a movie right now in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
