Mahogany Dining Room Furniture

This unique Mahogany Greene & Greene Style Dining Set is typical of the Mission and Arts & Crafts style. Large enough to seat the whole family for the holidays, this table measures 96 ½" x 41 ½", about 8 ft x 3 ½ ft. Hand made of individually hewn Solid Mahogany planks with black Wood Splines and fat black Square Pegs, the intricate Wood Joinery of our Mahogany dining room furniture is typical of that seen in the Gamble house of Pasadena, California, a hallmark of the Greene and Greene contributions to the Arts and Crafts movement.

Every surface is smoothed and rounded, gentle to the touch and without sharp corners or edges. Note the heft and grace of the Trestle Base on the table, the gracefully curved and supportive backs on the matching chairs, and the inset black Pegs and Splines that strengthen the joints of the chair corners. The Table Top is composed of wide, thick planks over 1 ½" thick and still shows the marks of the hand plane that was used to smooth the top. The chair seats are genuine leather with the look and feel of a favorite pair of shoes.

Obviously each piece of this set is the work of a single artisan working with hand tools and patience. Truly a work of art, this dining set would be appropriate for a Mission or Craftsman motif room and would look wonderful in a Bungalow style or Prairie home.
