How to Create Your Mailing Lists Fast and Easy

In order for you to be triumphant in online marketing, you will need to build lists. Several Lists! You need to build lists of customers and potential customers so that you can keep in touch and sell your product and services. Your mailing list gives you a way of staying in touch with people who have visited your website. Maybe they didn't buy anything the first time they visited your site. However, if you stay in touch with them on a common basis, they may turn into a faithful customer. While the main purpose of having a mailing list is to endorse products, your visitors will be enthusiastic to sign up for them if you provide helpful information.

You can assemble a mailing list by putting an opt-in box on your website. If you are selling an explicit product or service, only those with a curiosity in that product will sign up. When they sign up, you have captured their email address, name and phone number. People find your website by probing the Internet for keywords specific to your product or service. When you have a list, you can market to your customers time after time.

Once you have a mailing list, you can drive emails on a conventional basis, which allows you to build a connection with your customers. Potential customers on your list will get a chance to know you or your company and build confidence. This can take some time, but it is well worth the venture. It is much easier to buy something from someone you know and trust than buying from a stranger. When you do so, people tend to trust you more and trust that your content is a quality one. Therefore, they will most positively end up buying your product after some time.

Most people will not buy products the first time they visit your site, so by using an autoresponder, you can ensure that your site is endorsed several times, thus helping to get more sales. All you need to do is save a series of prearranged emails on your autoresponder database and once the potential customers opt in, they will be sent those emails in an period that you had set up yourself before. As we all know, and as it has been proven, the majority of the people who visit a website for the first time do not buy the product immediately. Even though they do not buy your product immediately, there are chances that they will after you follow up on them with several messages.

When you have a list with a tiny number, it is easy to work together with your subscribers on an personal basis. However, when your list reaches the thousands, it is difficult to do so. That's when the autoresponder comes in useful as it allows you to send tailored messages to all your subscribers at once containing each person's first name and personal details. Can't write? No writing skills? No problem! Autoresponders usually provide many efficiently built and designed templates that you can just copy and modify as you like.

Consider your autoresponder as your virtual assistant who monitors your subscribers, sends them emails on a regular basis and who takes the work load off your back. Would you like to know more? What Email Autoresponders Can Do For You

type=textThere are a number of good reasons why you need an autoresponder besides just answering your e-mail. For example, autoresponders can be used if you need a way to send information about your services or products, price lists, or if there are repeated questions asked across large numbers of e-mails. Maybe you want to offer your site visitors a special bonus of some kind, such as advice or relevant articles. All of this can be handled by an autoresponder. Additionally, you can advertise your business and then build stable relationships with your customers by using autoresponders.

Following Up with your Website Visitors is critical to your online business because:

- Most website visitors don't order on the first visit.
- They don't know enough about your offer to order the first visit.
- They are busy with other projects.
- They might not have the money to purchase immediately.
- They are still evaluating other products or services and haven't made a decision yet.
- You need to build brand awareness.
- You need to build credibility and trust.

Experts have shown that it often takes 7 or more marketing exposures before prospective customers purchase.

Listed Below are what autoresponder softwares can do for you if you are considering using email marketing as one of your online marketing tool.

1. Turn anonymous website visitors into subscribers

Autoresponder software allows you to create signup forms on your websites or blogs. The signup form consists of the text fill-in boxes which the purpose is to grab your website visitors contact information. Normally, email marketers only collect website visitors' name and email address. Website visitors who are interested with your website's content will "opt-in" through the signup form and become your subscribers.

2. Build relationship with subscribers

Once anonymous website visitors become your subscribers, you can build relationship with them by communicate with them through emails. You can always share, educate, update, and send them newsletters about your products or services anytime.

3. Promote your products or services to niche targeted subscribers

The reason why website visitors want to "opt-in" and become your subscribers is because they are interested with your site's content, or your products or services that you are offering. They want to find out more. They are your niche targeted subscribers and pre-qualified buyers. What you need to do is to put more marketing effort on your email sales letters to "hook" them up, and turn your subscribers into customers.

4. Set up a series of automated follow-up email campaigns

Have you ever experience that once you "opt-in" through an email marketer's website, you received a welcome email straight away in your email inbox and then 4 to 5 follow-up emails within the period of about 2 weeks time? Maybe these are all automated email campaigns. They do not have to manually re-send these emails to each and every one in their mailing list. By using the autoresponder software, you can automate the sequence of your personalized messages or pre-set a series of killer email sales campaigns to be sent to your subscribers and closed them a sale. Statistics often shows that prospects usually take several exposures to an offer before they make their buying decision.

5. Generate repeat sales

On the way to building long term relationship with your customers and subscribers, you will gain attention, trust and respect from them. They may view you as an expert in your niche. Therefore, you have the responsibility to take good care of them by feeding them valuable information. You can always repeat your business and make money from the same mailing list whenever you have new products or services.

6. Lead subscribers to you website

The traffic is in your hand and you can control it. Imagine that if you have built a mailing list of 1000 subscribers, this means that you owned 1000 free traffic. You can always refer this 1000 free traffic to your websites or blogs anytime with just an email from you. Although not every subscribers in your mailing list will visit your websites or blogs, a visit rate of 70% still give good traffic.

7. Measurable results

It is important to track every one of your emails' opened, and links' click through rate. Therefore, it is advisable to do split test on your email marketing campaigns. Popular autoresponder software companies are able to provide you tracking tools and reports that show you which of your email campaigns works and which doesn't; which of your websites drives more subscribers than others; where does your subscriber come from; or which subscription source is the most efficient and so on. These are very useful facilities that allow you to understand your subscribers well. They can provide you feedback on which email campaign or sales letter that needs to be improved.

8. Ensure good email deliverability

Popular autoresponder software companies have established strong relationships with all major Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and Email Service Providers(ESPs) to ensure good email deliverability. Therefore, every email you send has a high probability to be delivered to your subscribers' inboxes instead of junk folders.

9. Brand yourself with HTML emails

Most autoresponder softwares allow you to send HTML emails. You can stand out from other email marketers' crowd if you can choose to create your own eye-catching email template. By using HTML email template, you can easily include images or logo of your own to brand yourself. This will assist you to grab more attention from your subscribers who read your emails and increase your email links click through rate.

10. Duplication

Most email marketers run not only one email marketing business online. They run several of them simultaneously with the similar follow-up email campaign model. They duplicate their first successful follow-up email campaign model in their autoresponder software into other new markets. This is because they know and tested before which of their follow-up email campaign models works and what doesn't. Therefore, when you are successful with your first email marketing campaign, you can always duplicate the follow-up email campaign model into other new markets, or the horizontal product lines in the same market.

Consider your autoresponder as your virtual assistant who monitors your subscribers, sends them emails on a regular basis and who takes the work load off your back. Would you like to know more? Why Do You Need An Opt-in Box On Your Website

type=textMany people who have a blog and/or website, and post to either or both of these sites regularly, probably think they're doing all they can to market their work online. Yet, many are missing the mark when it comes to online promotion, and most of these people don't even realize it.

The way they miss the mark is - they don't have an opt-in box at their sites so they can collect names to grow their mailing lists. Many of these people don't bother to build their mailing lists online. And that's probably the biggest mistake they can make.

More than ever, people need to actively promote and market their own products. And one of the fastest and easiest ways to do this is online. But, before anyone can do this effectively, that person must have a mailing list. And, in order to constantly add names to that mailing list, the person's website and/or blog must include an opt-in box.

An opt-in box allows the website owner to collect the names and email addresses of site visitors in exchange for something like a free e-book, a special report, or a regular newsletter. Basically an opt-in page forces the reader to opt-in to "find out more" - find out more about your product, receive a report, receive a download and so on.

Once a visitor "opts in" to an website's list, that website onwer now has permission to send this person regular emails that can include more product information or new promotions. This mailing list allows the website's owner to stay connected to his readers and other followers. It allows the website owner to build a relationship with these individuals over time.

Most people who visit a website won't purchase any product or service on the first visit. It takes time for them to get to know, like, and trust the website and brand. In fact, studies have shown that most people need to have contact at least 7 times before they will purchase anyone's product or service. And a website owner can't rely on people to come back to his website or blog that many times without a nudge. The website owner provides this nudge through his newsletter or short email updates.

Any website owner who doesn't have an opt-in box - and something to offer visitors who sign up for their mailing list - should get busy creating both of these items so they'll hit the target when it comes to online promotion. You can visit Creating Your Mailing Lists to find out more about creating and using an opt-in box on your website.

Affiliate Marketing and Opt-in Box

type=textAffiliate Marketing is a revenue sharing venture between a website owner and an online merchant. The website owner will place advertisements on his websites to either help sell the merchant's products or to send potential customers to the merchant's website, all in exchange for a share of the profits.

Affiliate marketing without a list of your own is short lived. When you redirect a visitor from your web page, to the home page of the product you are promoting, you are sending highly targeted traffic to the owner of the program's site. You redirect visitors to the product's sale page, they opt-in and buy the product. The owner of the program makes money, you make money. Everything seems great, right? The problem is, you are losing a lot of money, and you don't even know it!

When you redirect to your affiliate's home page, you are giving away, hundreds, perhaps thousands of customers, who could have been your future customer. How? By not capturing the name and email addresses of the people who you just sent to the other product's sale page. The information that you just gave away, is worth thousands of dollars. Those names and email addresses are the most important thing you can have, while trying to promote a product. By capturing this information, you can guarantee yourself a market to promote similar product to, in the future. By building a landing page that offers the program or service with your own opt-in box, you can capture each visitor's information, which you can then use to promote your other products to in the future or even now.

You should have no hesitation about building a good pre-selling or review page. People often get annoyed at being redirected to the merchants page, because in most of the cases, they are hard to trust at a first sight.

Tests have shown that, when selling affiliate products, the conversion rate (actual sale of the product) is higher for a review page than for a redirected page. A review page can convert as high as 12% while a redirected page only converts at about 1% - 2%.

Having a simple opt-in box, allows you to get the best of both worlds. While you are making money, from sales generated by visitors who you referred to the product's sale page, you are also building a foundation for your future affiliate marketing business, or perhaps you may one day have a product of your own, that list will be the perfect market to pitch your product to.

Remember, an opt-in box forces the reader to opt-in to "find out more" - find out more about your product, receive a free report, receive a free download and so on. This is very important if they are to have a reason to opt-in.

If you do not have an opt-in box - and something to offer visitors who sign up for your mailing list - you should get busy creating both of these items so they'll hit the target when it comes to online promotion. You can visit Creating Your Mailing Lists to find out more about creating and using an opt-in box on your website.

Use Your Mailing List Effectively

type=textIf you have been trying to establish an online business, you will no doubt have read somewhere that 'The Money is in The List!'. Chances are that at first you will have ignored that advice - 'Not for me, all I need to do is sell some affiliate products and I'll be a success'. Hopefully by now you will have realized different.

You should hopefully now realize that mailing lists are important because:

- It gives you long-term customers, not one-offs
- You save money because you don't need to keep on advertising to your customer base
- It gives you certainty!

One thing to keep in mind when you are creating your list is to not just concentrate on getting a bigger and bigger list. If you do, this will inevitably be done at the expense of your actual subscribers! In other words, do not look on your subscribers as mere numbers, and not people. The most effective thing you can do is to learn to develop good relationships with your subscribers. Learn what pushes their buttons (there are ways to find this information) and then treat them in the way they like to be treated. Learn to develop a good rapport long before you ever try and sell them something. Do this and you will find that your online profits grow in a way you could hardly dream about!

Unfortunately, many business owners tend to allow their valuable mailing lists to accumulate dust, letting opportunity pass them by. Not only are they losing touch with their customers when they do this, they may lose hope of ever connecting with them again as, in our mobile culture, people change addresses with frequency.

To keep your mailing list up to par, think about the following:

1. Develop a series of introductory messages that you will send to your new subscribers in order to develop a relationship with them. Ideally these will cover a period of at least 2 weeks. Do not try and sell them anything, but do try to give them some genuinely useful information.

2. Find some useful free gifts to give away. Don't go overboard with this though.

3. Introduce a new product and invite your subscriber to come to a demonstration and celebration of the new product line.

4. Send your subscribers reprints of stories about your business along with a thank you note for their patronage.

5. Sending a Newsletter can be a great way of building long term relationships with your customers.

Remember, it costs you far less to maintain a relationship with an existing customer than to find a new one. Use your mailing list often to build lasting relationships for long term profits.

You Need A Mailing List First

type=textWhen I first started out in the Internet online marketing, my goal was to create a website, sell my product and hopefully make a good income. I was under the impression, as most newbies, that build it and they will come.

I had a good product to sell, so I created a website to tell the world. It took a while, but I finally managed to get my website on the first pages of Google, Yahoo and Bing. I was able to monitor traffic to my site and saw that I was really getting quite a few visitors which made me extremely happy.

There was only one problem. I was getting tons of traffic, but nobody was buying my product. After about 3 months, I finally did make three sales of my products, and only those sales. Believe me when I say I was getting completely frustrated.

I searched around the internet where I found people claiming that you need to drive tons of traffic to your website if you are to make any money. Well, guess what? I was getting lots of traffic but I was not making any money.

Quite by accident, I stumbled across a website hosted by Chris Farrell. I was quite surprised by what he had to say. He basically said, "The Money is in the List", which I did not have a clue what this meant. Reading further, he mentioned that the very first thing you need to do is to get yourself a list of subscribers to your website. Don't try to sell any products until you get your list.

This was strange to me as how am I supposed to make any money, if I don't sell anything. Considering I wasn't making any money anyways, I decided to follow his adviice.

Chris also mentioned, that I strongly needed to get an email autoresponder. This had to be an investment I had to make if I had any intentions of making money online. The problem was that there were many free email autoresponders but none of them were appealing to me. In fact, having a limited budget, I had to be very careful on who I selected. Again, I was told to buy an autoresponder service, not an autoresponder product. I was guaranteed to get more for my money if I went for a service rather than a product, which is what I finally ended up doing.

The most economical and reliable autoresponder service I could find was AWeber which had a fantastic reputation. I was amazed at how simple it was to set up my emails. They also supplied me with many opt-in boxes for me to choose from and were always there when I needed help.

I soon added an opt-in box to my website and enticed people to join my list by offering a free ebook download. Within one day of doing this, I got 5 people on my list. I must tell you that I was elated. I now had 5 people that I could target directly, as opposed to gunshot targeting which I had done in the past. I soon realized that when people visit your site for the first time, they typically do not buy anything. They are basically checking out the website and brand. This I found out could require several visits before visitors bought my product. But, since now I had a list, I could nudge my visitors every so often. Before I had to rely on a visitor coming back on their own accord, which obviously was not happening and so I was not selling my product.

As my list grew, my targeted customers grew and my financial income grew. This has now made me a firm believer in that "The money is in the List".

Paid or Free Email Autoresonder

type=textWhen I first went into online marketing, I learned the hard way that:

"The money is in the list"

What it means is that to be successful in Internet Marketing you need to have a group of people (your subscriber list) who have developed a relationship with you and trust your recommendations and judgement.

When it comes to marketing your products online, it is a known fact that before you try and sell anything, you need to learn how to build a list of prospects to market to. Your list is the most important factor in determining if your business is going to last. Your list is what will generate sales for you automatically throughout the year, 24 hours a day.

Once you have this list you will be able to promote your own and other people's products to them and the conversion rate will be way higher than if you tried to promote to people who have never heard of you before. It will also be way more profitable, because you won't have to pay for any advertising!

In order to be able to create and control my subscriber list, I had to look for an email autoresponder. Since I was on a limited budget, I did not really want to pay for anything, so I went with those so called free autoresponders.

I ended up being very unhappy with my free autoresponders because they:

- Limit the number of autoresponders or campaign you can set up.
- Limit the number of follow-up emails your can send out
- Add their own advertising at the top of your email, thereby distracting your subscribers
- Limit the number of subscribers you can have
- Send you lots of email you don't want. This of course if part of the terms and conditions for using their free service.

In a free account, your messages are plastered with advertising that gives no monetary benefit to you, while taking up valuable space in your outgoing messages.

I worked overtime to make the free options work, only to find that my emails ended up in the spambox. In the long run using the free autoresponder costed me more than the service from the paid autoresponder. Much, much more.

Can-Spam imposes a number of requirements on email marketers, including what you need to do to avoid being considered a spammer, what information you need to have in the footers of your emails, how you should handle complaints and unsubscribe requests and more. Failure to adhere to these requirements will bring heavy penalties! Yahoo, AOL, and MSN, among others, are particularly strict. They all provide a 'Mark as Spam' button (as do most Email providers) that enables customers to dump emails they don't want (even if they've opted in for them) into the Spam category.

The main and only advantage of using a free autoresponder service is that, it is free. But is it really free? Free services make their money by placing advertisements in each autoresponder message that you send out. Sometimes these ads appear at the top of your messages, and sometimes they appear at the bottom. Some of the free services are simply an enticement to purchase the professional version.

Lots of us are used to getting things for 'free' - it seems to have been the advertising slogan of the last 20 years. But all these free things usually come with a way of supporting the provider financially. But where do they get their revenue? By sending advertisements in your email messages.

Free autoresponders are not updated at regular interval. There will be many bugs and glitches in them.
Free autoresponders are not supported by the authors. Many of these autoresponders are sold by resellers or persons with private label rights. So they don't come with backend support.

The bottom line is that your list is a valuable resource and ensuring reliability and deliverability with a 24/7 sign up process should be the main priority. My recommendation is to opt for a paid for online service and never to take any chances with your list.

In the real world of Internet Marketing there is only one choice when it comes down to getting an autorespondor and that is reliability, so without doubt a premium service is a must when it comes to email marketing.

It's quite obvious (at least to me) that if you're serious about building your list, and building your online business, you need to have complete control over your leads and prospects. If you decide on a free autoresponder account you will get to the point where you'll need to move your list for whatever reason. If your autoresponder company does not give you control of your leads, you'll have to start from scratch in building your list all over again from your new system. This could easily put you behind by months (or even years) in your marketing efforts.

It is much 'safer' to choose an online service as these are dedicated to the auto responder service. They normally come with good uptime and deliverability rates and are backed up regularly.
