Top Tip #1

Have you joined any lists lately? Have a think about why you joined. Was it because of the offer they were giving you? Maybe it was because you trusted the person and wanted to hear more? This will probably be the same reasons that someone wants to join YOUR list!

Top Tip #2

Do you have lots of outgoing links and adsense on the same page as your opt-in box? Try and cut down the amount of links leaving your page since you want people to stay and hopefully sign up to your newsletter

Top Tip #3

Let them know that they can unsubscribe at any time. That way people feel less pressured and are more likely to sign up.

Top Tip #4

Add a disclaimer that you won't spam them or sell their details. Makes people feel more confident.

Sure you can't add an opt-in box on here but you CAN put a link to your squeeze page here. You can use Squidoo to help drive more traffic to your sign up page. You should be using as many traffic sources as you can if you are serious about list marketing anyway. Squidoo is just one of the many good 2.0 websites to use to do that.

You probably know that real money is made online through your subscriber list. Unless you have a list, you are wasting your advertising efforts. But which autoresponder should you use to build your list and how do you set it up? I use AWeber for my autoresponder, and here are the steps I used to set it up.

Autoresponder Step #1: Sign-Up

The first step in using AWeber to build your list is to sign-up for an account. The price of AWeber's accounts is based on the number of subscribers, so if you are just starting to build your list, you can use the cheapest account. Today a list for up to 500 subscribers only costs $19 a month. Once you sign-up, take advantage of the many free videos and online training courses that AWeber offers.

Autoresponder Step #2: Create A List And A Confirmation Email

Once you have signed up for your AWeber account, you need to create a list. A list is a way to separate your subscribers. Most people starting out will just need to create one list. But if you promote multiple products or need multiple lists, then you can create as many as you like. Once you have created your lists, you should write the confirmation emails that will be sent to subscribers to confirm their subscription. AWeber will use a default confirmation email, but you need to make this confirmation email much more personal so people will confirm their subscription.

Autoresponder Step #3: Create Follow-Up Messages

Follow-up messages are messages that are sent to each list. You can create as few or as many follow-up emails as you would like. As you create these emails, you will also create the schedule that these emails will be sent. For example, you can easily send a follow-up email 1 day after your subscriber signs-up and then send other follow-up emails once or twice a week after that. The schedule is totally up to you.
