In the northern and wooded areas you'll find interesting local crafts fairs featuring handmade furniture and other interesting items made from wood, hides and stone. In the coastal regions there's always an abundance of sea-inspired art and craft, along with traditional wood, fiber and pottery crafts.Maine crafts range from funky deco designs and folk art pieces with rich history to contemporary artwork and upcycled / altered arts that demonstrate Maine artists' flair for making art from anything, even what some might consider castoffs and leftovers. - I haven't been to Miane in years, but I do know that New Englander's are crafty people! There is a handmade basket company in Peterborough, New Hampshire too.

- Our daughter is in college in Maine so we've had several opportunities to visit this state. Indeed, there are so many hand made crafts and arts available. I'll have to check out some of your links for our next visit!

- I love Maine. Bar Harbor has lovely artisans and cafts people with fantastic shops. we lived in maine for many years. Would love to go back someday.
