Other Types (there are many types)
The subjects above are just a short list of what types of Cabinet Photographs you may wish to purchase and begin your collection. When you make your decision about the type and subject to start collecting, I would only say one thing to you, Stick With Your Decision!
When I started collecting over 25 years ago I made many mistakes. One Of My first mistakes was to buy every photo I would see without thinking about the subject or the condition of the photographs. Because of this I spent more money on photo's than I should have. I ended up with many photographs with problems such as very light images, torn photos and poor subjects. I ended up selling many unwanted images for less then I paid for them. Not a very good way to start any collection!
If you decide to collect children, you may wish to only collect boys, girls, sisters, brothers, brother and sister,
or groups of children.
After you make your decision the next thing you are going to have to consider is what condition should the photos be in before you buy. The Price you pay is very important to consider also. Collecting antique photos is more complicated than you first may think!
I think that the most important consideration should always be the condition of the photograph that you add to your collection. It is the condition that is most important when vintage photographs are valued. On very rare occasions, overall condition may not the most important feature, but is only if it is a RARE or Unusual image.
Some Rare and Unusual Photos: Famous people, actors, actresses, occupations, sports, military, wedding, freaks, post mortem, cowboys, railroads, Indians, dolls, toys, dogs, cats and outdoor scenes.
