The Majestic Theatre

The Majestic Theatre in San Antonio Texas is a national historic landmark built in 1929 by John Eberson for Karl Hoblitzelle's Interstate Theatres. It opened as a motion picture theatre and was the second largest theatre of it's kind in the country.

After millions of dollars went into preserving, restoring and renovating the Majestic theater, it reopened in 1989 as a venue for the San Antonio Symphony, Broadway tours, concerts and other performing arts events.

Majestic Theatre Tips

A Few Things to Consider

1. Parking downtown is limited so give yourself ample time to find a parking space in the adjacent city parking structure or around the area if it becomes full. (MidCity Garage, St. Mary's Garage)

2. People like to dress up when going to this theatre even if it's a matinee, and not opening night or a benefit.

3. There are decent restaurants downtown San Antonio, but it's a good idea to have a reservation especially during a theatre event. The Majestic is located near the Riverwalk, so it's already difficult with all the tourists and business people downtown.
