How To Make A Beehive

Ranked #1,233 in Pets & Animals, #33,781 overall

so you want to know how to make a bee hive

This is a picture of me tending to my bees. I got into bee keeping a couple of years ago and now I make my own bee hives. There are different types of beehive each with their own style and benefits. Most recently I made my very own Top Bar Hive and you can see a picture of it below.

Before I got into beekeeping I didn't realise there were so many types of bee hive. The original style was coiled rope and called a Bee Skep.

Today there are several types, ranging from:
- Langstroth hives, National hives, Commercial hives, WBC hives, Dartington Long Deep hives, Beehaus, Top-bar hives, and Warré hives

Very interesting. I hope all the challenges and the unknown killers of bees are found and eliminated. They are tooooooo terribly important to just disappear!

Mostly, beekeeping involves dealing with beehives - the home of honeybees! Beekeeping has evolved with time and modern day beekeeping is more advanced than it used to be. The improvements are vivid in the modernized process of honey gathering. There are different types of beehives used in the US. One of the common ones is The Langstroth hive. This type of beehive is mounted onto movable frames. It features a special support structure. This structure is actually rectangular shaped wooden frame meant for holding some combs within. In general, there are 9 to 10 combs in each frame. An interesting thing to notice here is that, the frame doesn't have any crest. Instead, they simply hang freely inside these frames. The combs however are made of sheets of wax/plastic foundation.
