Make me Funny
Ranked #7,997 in Entertainment, #99,461 overall
Oh, I really want to make others laugh . . .
Here's what I have been doing: watching Seinfeld, Colbert, Jon Stewart, Dave Letterman and I rent all the Chris Rock I can handle (after my child goes to sleep, of course). I adore Robin Williams too.
Intro photo from my own collection. Do not download.
This lens is about helping anyone in the medical field to find a way to incorporate humor into their daily working life. Sure, we don't want to come across unprofessional, but we sure want to appeal to the human side of every one we encounter.
Just really easy polls (for points), I just want you to relax and enjoy this one. I am hoping we will all have a good laugh once I gather up everything I find. I hope to serve you up fresh and funny tidbits and things to make you smile. Laughter really is the best medicine.

A few funnies to use anywhere . . .
Don't worry, no bad words are used in them:
For all you eye care professionals out there...whenever you are checking each eye separately and your patient seems to be struggling and unhappy afterwards (especially following an automated visual fields test), I would cheer them up and say, "Yeah, I know it is tough...I mean, you should see how much the three-eyed patients hate this." Kinda breaks the ice and lessens the tension that builds up whenever people feel under pressure to perform these types of examinations.
I was asked by a specialist about the doctor who saw me previously, I couldn't recall much but remembered he was young looking. Without missing a beat, my specialist said, "Yeah, I hate those young guys." I found variations on this works, but only if you are certain the person you are talking with understands the joke. Sometimes, it is hard to pinpoint names (especially for me) but faces, I always remember. You can break the tension plenty whenever someone can only recall part of something by using this empathetic response of, "Yeah, I hate or I love those..."
Reader's Digest Jan 2010 edition:
Contributed by Malo Hoenke:
When my mother was 91, I took her to an ophthalmologist for cataract-surgery evaluation. She was blind in one eye, couldn't hear well and used a walker. The doctor briskly gave her a cursory examination. At the end of the session, he held up three fingers, asking Mother, "How many fingers do I have?"
"I hope you have five if you're going to operate on me!" she snapped.
He gave her his full attention.

- Canadian humor! Love it! Sometimes, flatulence humor can oversaturate but that billboard is perfection.

- I have to admit that since I have spent my entire adult life working in a health care related occupation, soI never tire of the jokes about doctors and medicine. Medical professionals need a sense of humor to be able to deal with the stress and grief that often goes with the job.

- I liked the frog conducting, and the Yoda dog--it looks so much like my dog, Mavis! And the Childrens Hospital video. In the best place I ever worked, everyone had a great sense of humor, and we joked a lot. It's not being irreverent, or irresponsible. It's just that in a stressful job with serious responsibilities, sometimes a little humor is the only thing that helps you get through.

- We all need laughter, even serious people :) Hey have you watched Sugar Sammie or is it Sammy? He is sooo funny, an E.Indian comedian from Montreal, a younger Russel Peters, who I once went to see in concert.

- The whole lens was great...the dog dressed as Yoda, loved the expression on his face. I love to laugh, I mean really, really laugh, it feels so good, you feel so refreshed. Someone sent me an email with pictures of animals that made me laugh so hard I could barely breath, but it felt good.
