How You Make Money on Squidoo
Here are the Basics in Laymen's Terms
Squidoo allows you to make money through two methods:1) Squidoo runs content related Google AdSense ads on your lenses. Squidoo then splits the profits they make from these ads with their users, which are called lensmasters. Squidoo has found a way to combat click fraud by setting up a hierarchy pay scale. Instead of paying each lensmaster for the clicks their lenses generated, Squidoo pays each lensmaster a set amount (based on what Squidoo earned that month from AdSense) according to their lensrank. Sometimes this can be around $10-$11 per top ranked lens, but if you have a whole lot of lenses with high lensranks it adds up fast.
2) Squidoo let's you make money through affiliate sales on your lenses. You can use the convenient and easy to use Amazon, eBay, and CafePress modules that Squidoo offers. They split the commission with you on what ever you sell via your lens. Or, you can become an affiliate of another company (Amazon, Commission Junction, Pepperjam, etc) and make your own commissions from sales.
How Will You Focus Your Efforts?
- Focus on building many quality content lenses and work on promoting them so they rank high. Then make money off of the AdSense split from Squidoo.
- Focus on making interesting content lenses that have strategically placed Amazon, eBay, and CafePress modules and make money from the commission split with Squidoo.
- Focus on becoming an affiliate and place your own affiliate links on your lenses.

About How Much Each Lens Will Make
Squidoo splits its AdSense revenue with its lensmasters (Squidoo users). Instead of paying each lensmaster based on what ad click profits were generated per lens (which would promote click fraud), Squidoo bases its payouts off of each lensmaster's average lensrank for each of their lenses during a given pay period.Squidoo has also added to our revenue potential with Infolink and Chitika ads, which you can opt out of if you choose (and still earn from the AdSense adpool).
Squidoo divides lenses up into tiers. The exact range of lensranks per tier fluctuates month to month. Here is a guesstimate as to the usual lens tier breakdown:
Tier 1: Lenses ranked 2,000 or better.
Tier 2: Lenses ranked between 2,000 and anywhere from 10,000.
Tier 3: Lenses ranked between tier 2 and anywhere from 85,000.
Tier 4: Lenses ranked over 85,000.
Here are example payouts for January 2011:

- To add color and borders to your text modules, you need to insert html. In my "A Well Polished, Great Looking Lens Will Earn More Money" section of this lens, I list all of the lenses that I use to jazz my lenses up.
