The Internet has made it increasingly easy for people to make money online. But is it really possible to make a full-time living from the comfort of your home?

Are you on MySpace? 

Make some money while you hang out with friends

One of the easiest -- and often overlooked -- ways to make money online involves leveraging MySpace.

How, you ask? Well, it's simple really, it's just like any other form of marketing or advertising. Generally speaking, people use MySpace to generate leads (free traffic) for their business. Here's an overview:

1. Create a profile.
2. Add friends. The more the merrier.
3. Add value to your friends' lives/MySpace experience. Send them valuable content through comments, messages, and broadcasts. Do not spam -- add value. When you are looking for friends to add and groups to join, find people/groups that are relevant to what it is that you are doing (i.e. if you are selling baseball bats, make friends with people who play baseball).

Some things to consider 

Like I've said, you're going to have to invest some time and effort into making money online. No one is going to hand you cash.

Here are some things to consider:

You can promote Amazon products. Most people don't think of this because Amazon is just a given in our online lives. But that's the beauty of it. Everyone (practically) shops on Amazon. But you can make a nice cut of it by promoting certain products. I really like the strategies for this that are described in Day Job Killer. If you already have DJK, pick up the Day Job Killer Success Kit and take your business to another level.

Amazon products are just one example of a way to promote physical products. Many of the biggest retailers (think Wal-Mart, Target, and places like that) also have affiliate programs that you can join. If you spend some time learning the ropes, these markets can be very lucrative.

Most consumers immediately think of companies like Amazon and Wal-Mart. If you can put the product they are looking for in front of them from a brand/company they already know and trust, you are on the path to making some serious sales. The commissions can add up fast.

Four Steps to Star Making Money Online

One of the quickest and easiest ways to make money online is through Affiliate Marketing.

The players in this game are huge. You know many of the names (Amazon and Ebay, for example). Despite how huge the players are, it's easy for you (or anyone!) to get in and start making money.

In a sense, that's a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing in the sense that the opportunities are huge. The curse is that anyone can get into the game -- whether they have no resources or experience or not.

So how do you get started? Here's a quick, high-level plan:

1. Find a product. What's selling? What do people want?

2. Do some research. Now that you know what you want to sell, figure out how to sell it. Who's buying it? What's their mindset? Who are these people? You need to know all you can about these people so you can reach them.

3. Promote it. Sell your product to your market. How? You can go the free route (blogs, article marketing, etc) or the paid route (pay per click, etc). Both paths work. It's just a matter of how fast you want it to work and how much money you have to spend.

4. Track everything. What's working? What isn't? Where are you getting a return? It seems painful to track, but it's well worth it. This is the only way to tell your winners from your losers. It's the lifeblood of really turning this into a business.

Have you ever been offered a "paid survey program"?

Odds are that you probably have.

And odds are that it's a scam. 99% of the time (if not more), you want nothing to do with paid survey programs.

Don't participate in them and don't sell them.

If you are serious about making money online, you need to build an online business. It's not as difficult as it sounds, believe it or not.

You can set up an online business for very little money (a few dollars to register a domain name, a few dollars for hosting, etc -- all told, maybe $100 or so). It's not nearly as complicated as opening up a real-world, brick-and-mortar business.

Sometimes your money making efforts don't go as well as planned. There will be peaks and valleys in this business.

It is important to stay aware and be realistic with yourself. Sometimes a downturn in sales is due to a holiday. Sometimes it may mean that your business model is flawed or that you're driving untargeted traffic to your site.

In time you must come to know the difference between the regular down turns and the fundamental flaws in your business.

It will come to you in time. Be patient.

It is also important to keep a positive mind set. This is part of why I think it is important to start with something you are passionate about. This will help you to stay positive.

But even when times are tough and your business may not be growing as you would hope, you must stay positive.

Stick with it. See your projects through. In time, success will come.
