Twitter Marketing for Your Business FREE Blog Series
So have you heard of Twitter, ya right... like who hasn't?TV, News and every blog on the internet is talking about it and when Ashton Kutcher challenged CNN, it started to really explode and then Oprah had it on her show and well lets just say the Twitter server had to work overtime!
It seems this once seemingly "stupid" and "useless" (yes, i heard many a person say this) microblogging system is taking off and is leading by example.
I've been playing around with it for over a year, and while it's been fun, there's also serious business applications to using Twitter as well. I am not talking of the spamming systems that are popping up, where they teach you to add followers and then promote stuff to them left and right. I mean real honest to goodness "solid" business advantages to using Twitter...
BUT (and it is a big one)
...in order to take advantage of it, you need to be on it (as a famous lottery commercial, in Canada anyway, once said, "You can't win if you don't play") and you have to know how to play by the rules.
So I'm here to show you how to get in the game and start playing with Twitter.. the RIGHT way!

When I originally did the COWpetition section a few months ago on promoting the GamerzReviewz blog, I saw a few people try to replicate what I did without understanding the need to step back, look at the big picture and then properly plan. You see, each niche is a completely different animal and what works in one niche is not guaranteed to work in another niche. For example, I have found twitter to be very good for markets that are full of people that are online addicts, these include marketers, bloggers, programmers and gamers. The real power of Twitter comes from getting people that actually use it to follow you. Getting someone to create a twitter account and follow you is almost useless if they never actually visit the account.
So the first step is to plan out our strategy and this includes creating a goal and then planning out how we are going to achieve that.
Step 1: Set Our Goal
When doing a promotion campaign, you should set your goal as "traffic" not google rankings, links or subscribers. The reason for this is traffic is where the money is and rankings, links and subscribers are stepping stones to achieving that goal. We also want to create three goals%u2026 6 months, 3 months and 1 month. You can plan out further then that if you want but I do not like to because the blog might not catch on.
This is not by business goal, it is my specific traffic goal for this specific blog. The fact is that not all sites and blogs are going to catch on and after 6 months you will know if you should continue to focus a lot of effort into this project or move on.
Remember you blog is a part of the bigger picture and is a stepping stone to achieving your financial goals. You do not want to digg your heels in and focus your energy on something that is not returning an investment and so after 6 months, re-evaluate the situation and either make plans to grow it more or move on to focus efforts elsewhere. At the minimum I will let a site run for 3 months and within that time will have a good idea about how well it will do but I have also had sites that sucked at first and suddenly 9 months later Google started ranking and sending traffic to it. Keyword Research - A Step Towards Making Money Online Blogging
We have a question for you and we want you to really think about this.
What are the most important metrics that you use when doing keyword research?
1. Traffic
2. Competition
3. KEI
4. ___________ (Fill in the blank)
There are lots of fantastic tools online today and each one has their good points and bad points%u2026 but one thing that 99% of all these tools have in common is they simply give you a calculated guess using their own custom algorithim, that simply tells you how many competitors there are and how much traffic you can expect. Some make up a fancy term to use, such as KEI, but the bottom line is it is simply a traffic and competition ratio.
Now this seems logical doesn't it?
Of course we want to know the amount of traffic a keyword could expect and hopefully we can find those hidden golden nuggets that have virtually no competition and lots of traffic.
But why is it then, when we find these keywords, research and create good solid content, build back links and work our asses off to dominate the search engines, are we not making any money?
The traffic is great!
The rankings are fantastic!
The content is stellar!
What could be wrong???
This is where keyword research gets tricky and was our biggest discovery in transforming our affiliate marketing business. The discovery was that there is a gigantic difference between "traffic words" and "buyer words"
You need to understand that just because certain words get lots of traffic, this does not mean at all that the people searching with those terms are even remotely interested in purchasing anything.
A good example of the is the "dirt bike" industry. There are loads of traffic to be gained from this market but the demographics of this market tend to be generally teenagers who really cant afford to be spending a lot of money. Their searches are for interest%u2026 because they are fans of the market but few are spenders.
Does this mean there is no money to be made in this market?

10 Reasons you Suck at Running a Small Business
Every day, an alarming number of small businesses fail. In fact, research suggests that as many as half of all small businesses close their doors within just two years of opening. While some of these failures have to do with economic reasons or simple fate, many businesses fail because the business owner made a mistake, or a series of mistakes.
Here are the top ten reasons small business owners fail on and off line:
1. A lack of planning. Many business owners don't plan much past opening their doors. To be successful in small business, you have to be able to look at the long term.
2. A lack of business skills. Just because you're good at whatever business it is you're in doesn't mean you're good at business. Tasks as basic as bookkeeping are integral to the success of a business, and have to be done right if you're going to last.
3. Poor marketing. Creating a great blog, product or providing an amazing service isn't enough. You have to tell people about your business, and you have to tell them WHY they need you.
4. Poor location. Many offline small businesses, especially service-based businesses, need an optimum location in order to succeed but online businesses need to be in good nieghbourhoods as well. Make sure you are were the customer are looking and can easily find you.

Make Money Online Blogging with Google Analytics
Testing and tracking is a huge component to running a successful business long term. Without it you really have no clear picture as to what your current situation is, what is doing good and what needs improving.
With a blog or website:
The easiest way to understand this in my opinion is by using the free Google Analytics service.
Yes, there are other free and paid services but none of the free services can even compare to analytics in our opinion and yes many of the paid services are extremely effective but are not realistic (nor necessary in our opinion) for the average person.
When starting a new Web 2.0 (Social Media) promotional campaign, you are going to be testing lots of different sites and you want to understand if these sites are even worth while.
Part of this process is using lots of different sites but filtering out the ones that do not provide good results, eliminating them and then adding in new sites and Google Analytics is a great tool in understanding this.
For any of you that have never used Analytics, do not worry. First of all, the process to implement Analytics is extremely easy and only takes a couple minutes, assuming you already have a Google Adwords account. If you do not have an free AdWords account you really NEED to get one, the extra tools Google gives is very worthwhile.
Once you have the analytics account then translating the data into useful information is very easy once you know what to look for and we will go through that in detail over the next few days and you when we are done you will wish you would have been doing this a long time ago :)
All you need to be concerned with right now is implementing it, translating it is not needed until you have a few weeks of data to actually look at.
If you did not already sign up for a Google Adwords account, PLEASE DO SO NOW. I mentioned earlier in some posts that you should to do this for the keyword tools but you also want to gain access to all the other fantastic tools and services that are included such as Analytics and the Website Optimizer.

- When you've got the hang of it is's easy to build 100 blogs and maybe 1000 after a few months. With a certain minimum promotion, let's say they make $1 per day each on average. Do the maths and scale it up to earn as much as you want.
