Make Money Online
Make Money Online is a term no-one seems to believe it is possible to get a high ranking in the search engines for. This is probably because at time of writing google throws up 166,000,000 results for Make Money Online.
If you do a search for "Make Money Online" using quotes this number falls off drastically to 1,810,000. The sites that rank for Make Money Online and "Make Money Online" on the first pages are mostly the same money making opportunity sites.
I believe Web 2.0 properties and Squidoo, in particular, pack a huge punch today in the search engine results, so I thought I might have a go at creating a lens called "Make Money Online". The reason for this is that again and again in SEO discussions old-style SEO experts quote the term as one that it would be impossible to rank well for using only Web 2.0 properties.
Do a search for Make Money Online in your favourite engine. What do you see? A lot of highly optimised sites ranking there using "traditional" SEO methods. These have all had a lot of work put into them to rank for Make Money Online, but I only see one blogspot blog and a Squidoo lens on page two.
This suggests to me that the term is wide open for first page results for Web 2.0 properties. You see, Google likes to give searchers a nice wide range of results for a search, so if there are few or none there at present, it should be possible to get even a new lens ranking for the term.

Some examples of what "traditional" SEO experts say about "Make Money Online" being an impossible term to rank for in Squidoo or other Web 2.0 sites.
None of them suggest that "Make Money Online" is anything other than a highly sought after keyword with the unproven statement attached that it is not possible to rank for the term this way!
- I just finished a call with an old-school smartass seo expert...And he sure is a smartass coz he does it the old way that takes months to get results and insists on "web 2.0 is nothing new and it's all hype"
- If you tell any web 2.0 expert to rank the keywords "make money online", "debt consolidation", and "payday loans" on Google first page, I wish them good luck.
- For not so competitive (long tail) keywords, you could rank very well in Google by using blog and bookmarking. I use also Squidoo.
- With proper usage an individual can get good rankings for low competitive keywords using these networks

Ed Dale with his "30 Day Challenge" attempted a large scale Web 2.0 exercise that resulted in many of his disciples having their accounts frozen and a Google Slap.
I think used sensibly it has its place but is over rated. Results tend to be short term.
