Follow Me to the Money
Before you say "here we go with another ad" hear me out. Every where you go, you find people claiming to make $x on the internet. You may have even given it a half-hearted try. Chances are good that you failed. 95% of everyone that tries to make money on the internet fails. The good news is, that you can get around that. You can learn from the mistakes from others and capitalize on what they did correctly for yourself.
I just want to let you know how I got started with this project and give you a little information about me. I have been working for an IT firm with a large presence in North America. My job requires me to travel often, usually to and from my client site which is out of town. With every new project, I usually go to a new city. I'm ok with this. Back in March, I bought a new house. But before that I asked my superiors if it would be ok for me to reside about an hour and a half away from my office. They said that it was fine as I will likely be traveling for the next five to ten years. That was perfect as I didn't want to own my house longer than that. But after gas prices started to affect the airlines... companies didn't like to pay for my travel anymore. So that left me with local client visits. My office is about 35 to 50 minutes outside of a big city I live near. That is considered my local location. This means I do not get travel benefits. This is because I couldn't find a role. Today, I have to drive 2 hours each way to work... assuming there is no traffic. Normally, there is and it's a 3 hour commute each way.
I do not want pity or even for this to become a discussion. I told you this because I wanted to show you what my motivation is. We all know our companies don't care for us... I just needed to get kicked in the teeth to know this. This is where I wrote on my whiteboard in my computer room... "I will not need my job by July 1, 2009."
This was a very important step... I have set my goal. But I'm relatively short on cash these days. Although times are tough, they are only tough because I make them hard on myself (I think I over save and cut myself short). Without touching my savings, I saved up enough to get a web host. This is when my blog was created.
I don't expect to make any money with my blog. However I will be taking a different approach to cash shortly. This is as soon as I get enough money raised up and enough people to follow me in the blogs.
So this is how you get to the point I am right now.
1. Define your goal ("I will not need a job by x date")
2. Get information about online marketing or affiliate marketing
3. Save money to at least get a web presence.
4. Establish your web presence by getting word out about you and your product.
This is where I am. Follow me for more progress!
Keep track of me at my blog.
I will be taking affiliate offers, making affiliate marketing campaigns, trading in the stock market and even providing some personal finance that has helped me get my life in order!
