These things are simple and easy to do if you're good at writing, and have a computer with an internet connection.

( Random Side Tip if the Day : I do a lot of my research for articles I write on line, and that involves a lot of searching. I use Google and Yahoo and other places, but frequently I do my searches through swagbucks as well as those other places. The results I get come from places like yahoo and ask.com , so the content is pretty good. The real reason I do it is that it allows me to occasionally 'win' points while I'm searching, and then I can convert them into things like Amazon Gift Cards , Pay Pal money , Restaurant.com gift cards , and other cool stuff. I know it's legitimate because I've gotten prizes for my points on many occasions now. SIDE NOTE: Adding a section of time wasters and ways to not make money online to help you avoid BS. Please let me know if you know of sites I should add that are either great money makers -or- things not to bother with. REVIEWSTREAM.COM gets a BIG thumbs down from me. They have already rejected 10 out of 12 reviews written to topics thy say they need, while at the same time ALL 30 other articles I've submitted to other sites in the last week have been accepted and paid out. $2.50 per review is paltry, but sounds good if you can do a lot in a day... however is NOT WORTH THE TIME on a site full of LOW QUALITY WRITING that only randomly accepts a few pieces.

It pays to write on Associated Content
Associated Content is one good way to publish, promote, and earn money from your writing
Associated content is one place I regularly get paid from sharing short articles on a variety of topics. It merged with yahoo a while back and is now called Yahoo Contributors, which affords writers some evolving opportunities and helps them reach a potentially large audience.
I have a great deal of control over what I share on Associated content, which I like. Some pieces I give them exclusive rights to, which generates a higher upfront payment if the article is accepted. Other essays I retain the right to publish elsewhere, but still may earn a little bit based on the performance of the piece. A lot of people read the articles posted on AC, and so it becomes another good way to promote your work elsewhere. For instance, if you write a blog, you can regularly add links to in in your articles, which will increase how many visitors you have to your site or blog. Associated content also has a very nice community of writers, and it pays to have a look at some of their great work and participate in the community. Many of the contributors actually earn a living doing this, so you may stand to learn something by watching what the successful ones do. If you love writing and can put forth some intelligent effort with AC, you will make actual money. AC became so popular that it has recently changed hands and is now owned by Yahoo so we can expect it to have even more longevity and reliability. There are many publishing options including online articles, slide shows, video, and audio. You choose your level of involvement with AC, and the rewards can be excellent for those who work at it.

Using Squidoo and Associated Content Together to Cross Promote Your Work
You can cross promote your work on various sites where you submit your work, which will help you to get better page views and exposure for all of your writing. This happens because different readers are likely to access your work from different places. When doing this, be careful to read and understand the guidelines for each site you work with. You don't want to try to publish material that seems too overly self-promotional, but in most places if you liknk to things that are relevant to your topic it is enriching to your content and acceptable.

Keeping a Swipe File Will Help
What on Earth is that?
A swipe file is a way to collect and store good ideas for later use. It can be created in a variety of physical and computerized means, depending on what works best for you. However you choose to file the ideas that make you curious, create a place to keep notes and clippings for further inspiration. This article will explore a few different ways to put one together for yourself, and how to use it as a constant source of new material. A swipe file is a place to put all kinds of ideas you like, to look back at for further inspiration later.
You can create your own swipe file to help generate ideas and inspiration very easily. When you look back at clipping you added weeks or months ago, it will give you new ideas and a framework for discovery and creativity. You should probably create different sections, to help organize the clippings you'll save. You can use your computer to do it on or offline, or you can create a physical swipe file, or both. Create it in Google notebook, an office document, or a shoebox under your bed. Whatever works for you. If you keep your eyes open through the course of your normal day, you'll find lots of things to put in it.

Use CafePress along with Your Online Writing for an Additional Source of Income
Chances are if you write you also own a digital camera and a computer. That's not true of every writer I know, but most of them, these days. If you do, you're ahead of the game. Using your own photography and art in articles will sometimes get you a better price on the sale of the piece, depending on where you submit. If your content is shown online and you get royalties from page views, people will also select your articles to read more frequently if they have pictures. Webpages you design are also made more dynamic and interesting in this way.
Another thing you can do with your photographic art is turn it into merchandise on Cafe Press. You'll get a royalty if anyone buys the merchandise, and you can also create things that go along with other material you create. There are some ups and downs to the Constant Content system, but it could be a lucrative gig for the right writers. Some people have really good luck with it. You post articles to the site, which are then reviewed. If accepted, they become available to clients looking for content they can use on their websites and pages. One nice thing about this particular service is they have a minimum payouts for the use of your work that are higher than other places. One draw back is that they don't pay upfront, and so whether or not you earn anything really depends on if someone selects your work to use.
