DealExtreme Affiliate Program Is Easy

DealExtreme is a super popular Chinese webstore selling all kinds of stuff. It's not a surprise, because they are selling awesome products for unbelievable low prices. That's why it's good place to not only buy stuff, but to also earn some money.

Basically there are three different ways to make money with DealExtreme. I'll tell you what they are!

Drop Shipping - Part I

Many stores, including DealExtreme, offer drop shipping service. Basically drop shipping goes like this:
  • 1You find an interesting product at a web store that offers drop shipping service.
  • 2You list the product e.g. at eBay or your own website. You raise the price a bit so you get some profit.
  • 3Someone buys your product (at eBay or wherever you are selling the product).
  • 4You charge the customer.
  • 5Finally you order the product for the customer. You ship the product to the customer's address, of course.

Drop Shipping - Part II

Drop shipping has some advantages as well as some disadvantages. The benefits are for example these:

  • No need to keep stock
  • No risk that no one will buy your products
  • No investments required
  • Easiness
And the disadvantages:

  • You can't see the products
  • Therefore you can't know if the products are defective or not
  • If the drop shipper is not local (the drop shipper is in another country) delivery times will probably be somewhat long
If you are interested in drop shipping, here are some things to keep in mind:
  • 1Don't be greedy! Low prices attract customers and there might be other sellers with lower prices too.
  • 2Check if there are other drop shippers (or regular sellers) selling the same products as you. If there aren't, you can raise the price a bit more than usual because there are not competitors. But remember rule #1. ;-)
  • 3Remember to tell your customers there might be possible taxes or duties they have to pay. If you don't, you can get negative feedback and unhappy customers. You don't want that, do you?
  • 4Choose a shipping method which gives you a tracking number. Give it to your customer so they don't have to ask you where the package is going. That way you'll also know when the customer gets their products.
  • 5Returning products is difficult, so tell your customers that there's no satisfaction guarantee; that they can't return nor change their products. That's not always very good option, but be at least ready to offer your customers bearable solutions.

Keeping Stock

This one's simple. First, order some popular products. Then, after you have received the products, sell them. :P The idea is to keep a stock. The benefits are these:

  • You will certainly know that the products you sell are non-defective
  • Dealing with returns is easier
  • If you sell locally, delivery times will be shorter
And the cons:

  • There's a risk that no one will buy your products
  • Local delivery fees raise the total prices

Affiliate Programs

Another way to earn money is by joining affiliate programs. If you have a website or some good lenses here at Squidoo, this option might suit you well. First, join an affiliate program, and then place affiliate links to your website or to your lenses. When someone buys something after going through the affiliate links, you get some commission, like 10%.

Let's take an example:

  • You join "Company ABC's Affiliate Program DEF". You will get 10% commission.
  • Someone called Bob goes through your affiliate link to Company ABC's webstore.
  • He buys something cool, for example a leather case for his iPad. The total price he's spending is 20$.
  • So, you get 10% * 20$ = 2$.
Do you get the idea? By joining affiliate programs, you can get some money with only very little effort. If ten Bobs buy a leather case for their iPads in a month, you get 20$. If every one of them buys two cases, you get 40$.

Now, if you see affiliate links somewhere, be a gentleman (or gentlewoman), click those links and buy something. ;-) Doing so will not cause you any harm but will make someone happy.
