Residual income is great. You earn income for months and years from the work that is done one time. This is one of the great reasons a lot of people work from their home and build a home based business. The concept of leveraging your time and making a growing, long term residual income is very alluring.

Is it easy? Not really. Making any type of long term income requires effort. Building a team of people that have the "burning desire to succeed" is critical. Teaching this team what to do to success is super critical. We will be sharing our "steps to success" on this blog.

People ask me every day. How to I make money in such trying times? How can I make money when everyone is so scared about the economy?

The answer I give people is pretty simple. Give people what they want. No more. No less.

If people want to buy something from you, make sure what you sell them takes care of their needs and wants. Do not try to sell things to people that do not want them. Provide extreme value and superb customer service. Back up what you sell.

People usually then follow up with... How do I find people that have needs and wants? The
answer to that is pretty simple as well....you talk to people every day... and when you do...
you ask them what they need. You can talk to them face to face. You can talk to them on Skype. You can talk to them on the phone. You can trade emails.

When you speak with people, you need to find out what makes them tick. You need to find out what their needs and wants are. If you don't ask them... you will not know. If
you assume you know what they want, only bad things are going to happen.

When you are able to provide what people want.... they will buy stuff from you. It they
are not interested in what you have, you are going to fight a major uphill battle.

One of the people that has trained me in the last year puts it very well. You don't want to try to sell someone when you are first getting to know them. You need to find out if "there is a sale to be made". When I focus on providing solutions to people's needs, they have a pretty strong tendency to buy what I am selling.

If you have something that takes care of people's needs and provides solutions to their issues and problems.... making sales in 2009 is really not that difficult.

There are a lot of people out of work and many more looking at the possibility of losing their job. I hope this is not you. If it is, I will try to tell you what I have found to be different between working for your self in a home based business and working in a job.

There are not many "jobs" you are going to find online. People looking for a job online are looking to trade hours for dollars. There are companies that do that. They usually reserve working from home for proven performers that stay at home part of the time for personal and financial reasons. Most people looking for a job where they can start working from home are not going to find much there. I used to look for this type of arrangement myself when I lost my job years ago. Finding a paying job online is hard. Just trying to share the truth with you.

When you start a home based business, this is different than a job. You are in charge of things and you need to deal with this right off the bat. You are working for you. You are responsible for learning about your company, your products, how you get paid, and what to do when issues come up. In other words you need to learn a lot of stuff in short period of time. It is possible to do this. It is much easier if you bring some skills to the party when you get started.

If you are going to work for yourself, you need to have some training. This can come from the company you join with, but will be limited. You will be much further ahead if you find a coach or mentor that is going to help you. If you find a good teacher and trainer and affiliate yourself with them, you are heading towards success when many others are heading towards failure.

When you work for yourself, you do not have a fixed schedule and you may or may not know what to do. If you develop a sound DMO-- daily method of operation, you have a much greater chance of success. You need to put together a plan and execute that plan.

If this sounds difficult or foreign to you, I suggest you take a step back and assess where you are at and where you want to go. If you don't know what to do, go find someone that knows what they are doing and spend as much time with them as you can. Do what they tell you to do. Follow what you are told and get yourself an online presence if you are going to work online. My greatest growth in my business occured once I figured out I needed help and sought out assistance. I highly recommend you do the same.

As lucrative as being a business owner can be, there are certain businesses that we would probably all agree wouldn't be wise investments in today's economic climate - like marketing non-consumable "luxury" products for example.

When you are looking for a home based business, you need to look at several things. The Company needs to be solid and legitimate. The products need to be unique and very high quality. The pay plan needs to allow people to make money fairly quickly and must provide for long term residual income. All of these are very important to your decision making.

No single factor is more important than your selection of your upline and your upline team.
You need to spend some time here if you are here to make real good money over the long haul.
