Thanks for the excellent lens. Highly informative.

Making money online is not easy but not impossible. Any newcomer in this field should consider few things before starting, are you smart in online, Do you have patience & passion on it & can you work hard? if all yes, please start fast, you will grow slow but steadily.

My lens on this topic is "best ways of online money making"... interested readers can check it.

But one thing is pretty obvious; your money will start to come slowly, but if you can build good reputation, you will earn more in every month. Good luck all.

ehhh I think blogging is a more viable option for making money as a writer. I make a healthy amount by being a blogger, but more importantly, a guest blogger. I actually wrote a guide on how to get started on that and so far, it's well received!

I'd say that if you wanted to make money by writing, then you should talk to me.

Thank you. I've so much enjoyed reading all the many tips an' links you've shared. After going back over different parts of your page, several times, I couldn't recall if I had made a comment or not. Rather than take a chance on leaving without thanking you, I opted for taking the chance that I might be thanking you twice. Really helpful information. Thanks so much. :)

    Brilliant lens.

When I first started freelance copywriting a few years back, I found the biggest hurdle to overcome was a portfolio. Once I had that, things seemed a lot easier. Perhaps because I then had the confidence in approaching others and so on.

your info has again instilled some positive attitude in me for writing n blogging.

till date i used to only submit articles to those who required my services - quite a few over the past year. but recently i did not have the same enthusiasm as when i started a year back.

you have rightly pointed out that if you had quit after the 85th quote, you might not have gone the extra yard for thr gold pot.

but anyway i thank you and my stars that i have come across your article and within the next few days i will "study" the ccontents and really go for it. i have no idea about the monetary returns but i will be satisfied if my writing attracts some followers.

again Merry Christmas n Happy and Prosperous New Year to you n your family - and to all the world at large

Thanks for the feedback everyone! Yes, some of the sites do have a fair amount of competition but I think it's worth it to be stubborn about it and break through the initial frustrations. With time, things do get easier and easier.
  • ICanCook Dec 15, 2010 @ 10:45 am | delete
Lots of information for people who want to write to make money. Good job. I found myself thingking as I red the lens "I could do this".
  • Rob Spencer Dec 14, 2010 @ 10:14 pm | delete
While some of the sites mentioned in this lens are great places to start, the competition on these sites is ferocious.

Quite often, you have to think outside the box to get those first paying jobs.

For example, I write a lot of articles; and I have picked up clients by writing articles that showcase my SEO writing skills. I have picked up a couple clients by marketing my writing services via articles.

Give it a try; you'll be surprised what you come up with.

Also, a lot of the major freelance writing sites pay peanuts when you do get your first job.

Why not find the highest paying online writing jobs by giving us a quick look at

Thanks for another great article on making a living with your writing. I have been writing for love for ages. When I get paid, I feel surprised and delighted -- but, wait a minute, shouldn't I get paid for what I put so much of my heart and soul into? This has been a steep uphill battle for me. Thanks for your advice and encouragement.

Great lens, however I do agree with FrankGual that the rates are not very good for article writing. The thing I struggle with is the amount of articles that are wanted per day. It takes me a good hour and a half to write one 400word article and I work full time, so that leaves me weekends and evenings. I will keep at it but my dream of quitting my full time job has all but faded.
  • kohuether Aug 6, 2011 @ 5:23 pm | delete
I know this comment was posted a while ago but I am updating the lens right now and I am covering how to increase your rates.
  • FrankGual Sep 16, 2010 @ 10:53 pm | delete
A lot of encouragement here. I am stuck in one of the content mills you cite here at 1.5 cents a word, plus just beginning to make residual income. Need to branch out but discouraged by low rates on Odesk and other bidding sites.

  • kohuether Jul 14, 2010 @ 7:19 am | delete
Very good question! Don't look at it as "having no skills". You have life experience and focusing on these experiences when placing bids and writing queries will help you get hired. Plus the more you write, the better you get.

    Hello
I am new to the whole thing. I am looking to make extra money doing something that I love to do. I have no Idea where to start or even if I am qualified, any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated

I enjoy writing fiction though I haven't attempted to write anything since college. but I am good at How to articles as well I write some of those for my kids and friends who need step by step instructions on how to prepare food, make a dress, or arrange a dinner party for the first time.

but with my limited skills I think writing is something that I can really excel at.

thank you very much for any help that you can provide
  • kohuether Jul 9, 2010 @ 10:19 am | delete
If you follow the tips in this lens, I'm sure it will help you tremendously! Sign up for those sites I mention in the beginning and set goals for yourself in terms of output. For example, you can start out with writing 1 article at Associated Content and five at The Content Authority per day and then you'll fall into a nice grove.

These are truly great tips! You've made some valid points and suggestions. It looks like you have a great well rounded experience on a number of websites and offline writing jobs. I've used Blogger for years to write, as well as Squidoo. I've only just recently branched out onto other websites like Hubpages and Wordpress. So far, Squidoo is still working the best for me, but like any site, it takes time!

Some investors purchase commercial property with the aim of investment as this is a very lucrative option to invest. By renting out the investor can get a regular source of income and also can recover the cost at which he bought he property. There are many options for office spaces in Gurgaon. These can be either be bought or leased or rented. Office Space in Gurgaon is very sought after in the present times with a perfect corporate environment to work in.

Associated Content is the best I have tried so far. They offer upfront payment and payment for every 1000 visitors so you earn money both ways. Bukisa is the site I earn the least so far, but I only write there once in a while for fun.

    Nice lens.

A blog is also an opportunity to establish yourself as an expert. Write with confidence on topics important to business owners (a freelancer might write an article on how to create killer press releases, for example), and you'll likely land jobs just from that.

I've had a couple people contact me wanting to write for them, and my blog isn't even about freelancing. ;)

    Great lens!

For anyone interested in passive income through blogging I have found the newest and quite possibly the best blog creation software available.

If you are looking to make money online this is definitely the way to go. I'm living proof that it works.

The software was released last month (July 2008) and incorporates everything from creating to promoting a blog and the simplest yet most effective ways possible.

I created a blog in under 2 hours and am seeing results in under 3 days via ad sense.

See my full review on the software and more on what its about here at my lens
    http://www.squidoo.com/makemoneyonlinewithblogs

P.S. The site this software helped me make money from scratch in under two hours is http://www.heroesseason2.com

I wrote a lens on it, and I think everyone should check it out.. if you don't.. you're just crazy Check it out here

Thanks for the useful resources! I have a lens about a new article directory that is debuting soon. It's a viral directory for authors. Its free to join and lets you easily earn "credits" that you can trade in to promote your blogs, lenses, hubs, webites, or products. I've been submitting articles there and have earned a couple thousand credits by now. It's still in beta but it should be debuting soon.

I was googling content creators and found your resume to be quite engaging. The company I work for is rather desperate for a content creator for a few of our projects. We're based in New Hampshire (Salem). www.commonplaces.com. Please let me know if you would be interested. jenna@commonplaces.com.
