Homemade Calender on Wordpress

Don't get me wrong - I think premade calendars are wonderful and beautiful. You know the ones I'm talking about - they often have pretty pictures and fun quotes... but this year why not make your own?

Personalized calendars can be a wonderful alternative to the calendars you can buy in the store. So, I thought I'd share some of my favorite ideas for making my own!

Make Your Own Monthly Calendar with Word

A Simple Way to Make a Customized Calendar

I noticed a few years ago that you can make a monthly calendar with Word. Here's what you need to do:

1. Open up a blank document.
2. Go to File-->New
3. In my version of word (2003) a window pops up that gives me the choice to look at templates.
4. Type in "calendar" into the search box. (Again on my version of Word, the search box pops up with the window).
5. Select the template that you like. You can customize it right in the window.
6. When you're finished customizing it you can print it out.

If you don't have the same version of Word that I do, use your help tool to figure out how to access the online templates if you don't already know how to do so. Once you figure out how to access them, find a calendar template that you like.

Personalize Your Printable Calendar

Add Pictures and Artwork to Your Calendar

Here are some ideas to make the calendar you printed out from Word more unique.
  • Original artwork. Do you create art? You can print out your original artwork and then have the whole thing bound at your local print shop.
  • Photos. Do the same as above but with your unique photos.
  • Get creative. You can also use craft and art supplies to make pretty calendar pages. For example, you can use rubber stamps or even make it 3-D with rhinestones and feathers.

Troubleshooting Your Printable Microsoft Word Calendar

As I encounter potential problems, I'll try to help you find solutions!

I came across this problem in my keyword list and I have a few ideas on what could be wrong. Check to make sure that the initial printing settings are correct and if you told it to print all the pages. Also, make sure that the paper is lined up correctly and that you don't need new printer ink. These two things could cause it.

    I made a children's activity calendar in the 80's called Tot's Agenda. I marketed it across Canada and in parts of the US. Great fun. (Lots of work, too.) It's now part of a homeschooling curriculum.
