Best Pepper Spray Recipe

Making your own pepper spray is easy and surprisingly effective. In countries like Canada and the United States, pepper spray is useful for personal self defence, which is why police carry it. On the other hand, in less democratic countries it can be essential to prevent all manner of crimes.

Everyone should carry a bottle of pepper spray with them. You never know when things could go sour!

How Pepper Spray Works

When you're sprayed, the pepper spray irritates your throat, eyes, and stimulates nerves in your face. This causes you to begin coughing, your eyes will swell and close shut, massive tearing starts, and you end up with a runny nose.

This continues for several minutes until the tearing finally clears out the pepper spray in your eyes and you're able to see.

Direct side effects of pepper spray can last up to 30 minutes and the after effects can run several hours.

Pepper Spray Antitodes

  1. Whole milk is considered very effective as an antidote. Simply wash the affected area (or submerge it) in the whole milk and it will help to wash away the pepper spray.

This will alleviate the pain but will not break down the oil itself, which causes the burn in the first place.
  2. According to "pepper-spray-store.com", a recipe of 25% Dawn and 75% water can be used to break down the oil, which is the actual cause of the burn.

Wonderful. Soon pepper spray currently on the market will most likely be banned. Citizens need a means to deter illegal government of any sort. Thanks for a wonderful informative lens.

Well, I guess you can make just about anything, can't you! I didn't know there was a recipe for homemade pepper spray. But it makes sense.

Toxicity

Pepper spray is considered relatively harmless. It is grouped along with tear gas and other irritants as a "less than lethal" weapon usable by police officers. A single spray won't cause any lasting damage but repeated exposure can damage the eyes and the throat.

Some people have even died after extended sprays of pepper spray, but this is extremely rare.
