Make Stuff, Build Things, Invent It, Have Fun!
I just love to make stuff.
As a kid, I would draw up elaborate plans for my new inventions and actually try to build some of them. I would spend hours putting together things with odd materials I could find around the house into simple pinball machines, dart guns and other games and toys for my siblings and me to play with. My favorite toys were science kits, experimenting with electricity, chemistry, biology, physics and later computers and I would often get in trouble for taking things apart to see how they work.
As an adult, I still love to tinker with things as long as it is not on my "to do" list. My curiosity still leads me to take things apart to see how it works-- although now, I make sure I can get it back together first. I enjoy spending my Saturday afternoon cruising around The Home Depot and buying stuff that I use once... or never, and I have a workshop full of slightly used tools to prove it.
It is ironic that things that have made our lives so simple are so very, very complex. In my teens, I could take apart a carburetor and put it back together in a weekend but, now I can't even find the air filter in the car, much less, change my own oil.
I still love to make stuff though-- and this is my lens dedicated to all the others that do to.
