My friends and I regularly make homemade wine (because it is fun and satisfying to drink something you have made yourself) and just between us a lot of things went wrong, especially when we first started.

Something that happened to me was that the jar that I made the wine in exploded. I thought it was something to do with the jar, so I used another one. That one exploded as well. "Hmm, maybe I am doing something wrong?"

After a search on the internet I realised that you had to make a hole in the lid of the jar and tie a balloon or something similar over it.

One of my friends did not wash their fruit properly and everybody that drank the wine got pesticide poisoning and spent a few hours in hospital! Think food poisoning, but worse!

And then there was the failed recipes/experiments where when tasting the wine for the first time it felt like your teeth were sucked out. It took a lot of mouthwash to get rid of the taste...
