Creating a web presence

Whether you are an online marketer trying to generate extra income on the web, or you are just interested in sharing your knowledge with the world, you need to get people to see your website.

The first thing that I want to make clear is that there is no miracle solution to getting traffic to your website. It takes time and work. There are many online marketing products offered that claim to help you generate web traffic. I'm sure that they all have some very useful information, but the fact of the matter is that you are still going to have to put quite a bit of time and effort into what you are trying to accomplish.

One of the above mentioned products that I have found useful comes from a guy who calls himself The Rich Jerk

The title is no misnomer. He is a jerk. But he is pretty smart and successful. He sells an ebook for ten bucks that gives you some pretty good information on how to successfully market online. I bought it because it was only ten bucks. I felt that I got my money's worth in suggestions and useful marketing tips. Be careful though, when you buy it, you will be offered a few other "must have" marketing tools. These may be useful down the road, but my advice to you is to just get the book, read it, follow its advice, and then when you have mastered the principles in the book, you can maybe buy some advanced marketing products.

Like I said though, the book is not the ultimate solution to your problems. It simply steers you in the right direction. Some of the most important things that I learned from the book have to do with affiliate marketing and search engine optimization. He tells you how to use the free social media on the web to optimize your search engine results and generate traffic to your website. I like the way that the book is written because there is not a lot of fluff. It is strait to the point and there are a lot of step by step directions.

This book is actually where I learned about squiddo.com. Squiddo is one of the social media sites refered to above that can help you generate traffic to your website. Now, I am not going to pretend to be an expert with squiddo. I have only been a member for a couple of days. But I have been reading lenses from other very knowledgeable people that have taught me some valuable information for using squiddo.
