Make Money Online

The whole logic on how to make money online is one of simplicity over complexity.

Why?

Well, if you make something too complex, people will turn away either from frustration at not being able to follow what's going on, or from impatience.

On the other hand, if you make something plain and simple, people will be able to easily follow what you're trying to get over to them and they'll pick it up quickly and never lose patience.

This is one of the major keys to success in an online business that is geared up to make money online. After all, you're dealing with people, not machines at the end of the day. Those people will make a choice depending on what you present to them.

Whether to buy it, or whether to go someplace else.

Your aim, as an online business person who wants to make money online is to convince these people to take the first option and buy it! Problem is, that's the hardest one to do.

Why?

Because the other option is way too easy. There are a truckload of ways you can convince any sane person to up sticks and go someplace else, but only a handful of ways you can convince them to stay with you and to really WANT that product or service you are placing before them with a price tag.

As this lens evolves, I'll be highlighting some of the ways to do both - keep 'em and make money online or make 'em leave and don't!

The idea that you'll make money by going wide really relates to the process of spreading your self out across the Internet by creating more sites, lenses and blogs with the intention of inhabiting different niches.

Then populate those new sites with content, get them indexed and start selling affiliate products and generating income from CPC ads.

That's the theory and now I'm putting it into practice.

First, some extra wide sites that need indexing and the best way to do that is to write articles and post them at article directories like GoArticles or ezines like Ezine Articles. You get a backlink for each article from a high PR site that will get your new site indexed with the SEs fast - usually within a few days.

Then you have to work on getting traffic.

Well, the articles will bring a trickle to start with, so you'll need to do some social networking and get your sites known to more.

I have the luxury of a few PR3 blogs, so I can blog about them and push some traffic in their direction, as well as set up permanent one-way links that will also help not only with indexing but by gaining a PR of their own quickly so they can start on learning how to make money online.

Then there are these lenses that I have that have also gotten a little PR themselves. This one in particular is perfect for writing a short article on how to make money with additional sites, blogs and lenses and then linking to them.

This article originally linked to a lot of my other sites but I have since learned that doing that will only dilute the link juice given to each link, making them virtually worthless, so I have removed the links and concentrated on only one in this article.

Of course there's not much point linking to all my sites from here, as links only carry weight when they come from sites in a similar niche, so there would be no point in me linking to health sites from this from home make money lens!

Additional Info Update 25th march 2008

One very important point you need to be aware of with niche marketing that applies to everyone who is ever widening their circle of different subjects.

If you are using Adsense on your sites, make a point of keeping your best niches to yourself. While its highly commendable to help other people by giving away useful information, telling everyone what your niche sites are can come around and bite you in the ass.

It only takes one mean competitor to find your site and they can do a lot of damage to your make money online stream by reporting your site on some trumped up charge to Google.

While you may be completely innocent, Google acts swiftly and harshly to any reports it gets of sites that may be involved in spamming or black hat activities. Your totally innocent site could get de-indexed at the drop of a hat and it would then take you a lot of work and a lot of expensive time in terms of lost revenue to get your site re-indexed again.

So best keep them to yourself!

I just read that John Chow has unveiled yet another great method to make money online. It's called
WidgetBucks. Well, I was so impressed by it I went straight over and signed up!

It looks like it could be a very good replacement for either Auction Ads or Adsense.

It probably won't beat Adsense earnings unless your site is about promoting certain products like mp3 players or music, dvds, books, sports items etc.

So How Does it Work?

WidgetBucks works by placing a graphics style banner (that comes in various sizes) on your site. You then receive money based on clicks (not sales), in a similar manner to Adsense. The minimum payout for WidgetBucks is $50 and to get you started they're giving you $25 in your account. Payments are done at the end of each month either by a check sent or PayPal deposit.

WidgetBucks gives you about 12 categories to choose ads from, as well as sub-categories in each of those (examples: media, family, sports, video games and cars). This means it is better suited to niche blogs at present, so if your blog is about Making Money or Internet Marketing, the product choices are limited. However, WidgetBucks does offer an option you can select for it to "crawl" your blog or site. This means it can match ads to your content.

There are several banner size and colour options available at the moment, with more planned for the near future. That's enough to get you up and running.

So if, like me you've been banned from Adsense or Auction Ads aren't performing on your site, WidgetBucks might just be the alternative source to make money from your blog or site.

I believe it's definitely worth being a member and experimenting some. This might be your next big income stream!

So far the earnings with this pile of crap has been less than a lousy dollar. I should have known it would be useless, coming from John Chow. I'm sure he made a pretty penny getting his huge list of sheep to sign up under his affiliate link, but the rest of us, as usual get naff all.

I've removed WidgetBucks from all my blogs as they are a total waste of space!

There is a common misconception among many internet marketers that because you aren't promoting your own product you can't develop Joint Ventures. I think that's hogwash. The key thing to remember is a JV has to be a mutually beneficial arrangement, it can't be a one sided deal. All parties in a JV have to bring something valuable to the table.

JV's can be created any way you want. Be creative, but remember you have to craft your proposal to a prospective merchant explaining "what's in it for them".
