Myth #1 "You Need Specialized Equipment and Office Space"

Not true. If you have an ordinary computer, keyboard and access to internet or nearby WIFI and the ability to type, you've got everything you need to get started. You won't even need a printer or extra phone line because you'll be communicating via email and sending your work over the net to their printers. You can make money typing without leasing a store-front or maintaining inventory.

Myth#2 "No One is Going to Hire a One Woman(Man)Show"

Nothing could be further from the truth! Many of your customers are going to be "one man shows" themselves. The bigger firms hire independent contractors to make themselves smaller Size doesn't matter. If anything, customers like knowing they're dealing directly with an independent contractor.

Myth #3 You have to be a super-fast typist to make it.

As long as you meet your customer's deadline and deliver an accurate product, no one but you will know or care how fast you type. Myth#4 It costs money to get jobs.

HOGWASH! This myth is worthy of it's own article. Let me just say here that you are a seller NOT a buyer. No one legitimately seeking your services as a typist is going to ask you for money. There are a TON of free resources on the net that Both buyers and sellers of typing services use for free to contact each other! Typing work is not a "luxury" for those who need it. If they are small themselves or have made the decisions to downsize they are already looking for you. It's not my place to say "never" advertise but lots of people in this business do not. Stay away from the kind of "typing" offers you're seeing on the internet that look like this!
