I discovered my first make your own beats program when I was just a teenager. At the time, music making software was a brand new novelty..for the first time you didn't need thousands of dollars worth of hardware...just a computer, some software, and some decent speakers or studio monitors. But the problem was, everything I came up with was either sounding like garbage or unfinished. My mixing skills were amateur at best. And I got stuck at the 8 bar loop...I wasn't sure how to incorporate change-ups, transitions, different song sections...not to mention the term "music theory" simply wasn't in my vocabulary.
