Affiliate programs are basically just joint ventures a marketer (that would be you) and a company thats promoting a product. The company takes care of the product, website, customer service, the orders, and fullfillment. But where do you come in? The company gives you a link to refer customers to purchase its products, and you earn a percentage of that sale. Simply put you refer people to these sites and you get paid for any sales!The benefits of affiliate programs are easy to understand:
1. It's Easy! You don't need a service or product. You don't have to spend time and money building or maintaining a website. Your not responsible for customer service or shipping. The company takes care of all this for you.
2. Fast Money! You don't have to build a website or company to handle the process of moving the products. All you do is advertise your special link to other websites. You can start making money almost immediately depending on your advertisment. We'll take more about advertisment later.
3. The Products Will Sell. What would be worse than building a product, company, or website and you get no sales? You would be in trouble since you spent alot of time and effort to make it work. Starting a business can be pretty tough. With affiliate programs you don't deal with this-the hard work has been done. Market research, product development, and sales material is already professionally created.
4. Mutiple Streams of Income. You won't have to promote just one product. You can promote as many or as few as you want. It might be best to concentrate on only a few programs and advertise them well, but those are just my thoughts. If you want to promote 5,000 products jsut sign up and start promoting!
5. Free Training and Tools. When you sign up with affiliate programs you not just getting a company's product with no hassle, but many of these companies provide marketers with great training material.

- Many people who are successful online know that affiliate programs are a vital part of an online business. Even with excellent products and services, even with profitable and productive websites or an online marketing presence, affiliate programs are a must to generate streams of cash.
Another aspect of affiliate programs that most people(ever some of the best online money makers in the world)don't know about is that you can use affilate programs to build an extermely large list of customers!
Most people only think about the immediate money they make using affiliate programs. With great marketing and advertising you can make a great income from affiliate programs. But these customers could be customers for your future products. If you read any book on matrketing they all talk about a customer list. Affiliate programs are the same.
If you're part of an affiliate programs do you do the following:
1. You run your ads.
2. The ads contain your refferal links.
3. Customers go to the site and buy.
4. You get paid.
This is called filter-feeder marketing. You advertise your link and hope for the best. There is a huge lack of potential here. You can generate alot of extra cash by following up on customers. Filter-feeder marketing does not allow this.
Avanced marketers use autoresponders and do this:
1. They run their ad.
2. Prospects will reply to the autoresponder.
3. The autoresponder sends letters that direct prospects to the affiliate link.
4. The autoresponder follows up automatically for you.
5. Autoresponder keeps the name and e-mail address which you can download to a database.
Ok so you might want to know what an autoresponder is. An autoresponder is an online marketing tool that sends out predetermind messages to anyone who contacts it through e-mail. Autoresponders work 24/7 and don't make mistakes, and you can upload sequential follow-up messages that will be e-mailed auotmatically to your customers at the right time. All of these happens without you doing a thing. A customer can get one letter right away, four days later get another, six days later the next letter, and so on and so forth.
As stated earlier affiliate programs are used two ways: (1) generating cash from sales of a product or (2) a way to generate leads for future sales. There's an example of how this works:
1. I joined an affiliate program that sold a product for $97 and paid a $50 commission.
2. I purchased very cheap e-zine ads for not much money.
3. I used an autoresponder that cost $27 monthly.
Ok so we have:

With no website or product an investment of $34.50 generated $815.50 of profit. As you can see $34.50 can be worth alot more that you think. Now watch what happens when I use the responses and reinvest. Out of the $815.50 I used $55.00 of that for running ads in 5 more e-zines. Using the exact same system with the additional 5 ezines:

Expenses $27.00(there was no out-of-pocket advertising this time because of the reinvestment)

Are you wondering what the autoresponder did? It gathered 148 names and emails for me to advertise my next product to. The $1973 is'nt the main focus. Out of the $815.00 from the first example I only reinvested $55.00 of that and got a targeted e-mail list of 148 people that might purchase another product that I promote.
A list of 148 customers is small. In fact it's small its scary. Don't worry, I'll show you how to icrease your list 100x fold.
Pay-Per-Click

- So lets say you've pick an affiliate program to promote. Now you want to promote this and make the $1,000+ you see all the ads saying you'll make if you join their program. I believe the fastest way to do this is by using pay-per-click advertising. With this form of advertisment you will be listed with search engines and can take advantage of their express listing options. If you were to go to Google or Yahoo and did a search for cars you would see a list of websites with information on cars. To the right of the page you would see a list of ads also having something to do with cars. This is where the pay-per-click ads are located. The goal of most affiliate marketers or online advertisers is to get their website listed on the front page of these major search engines. The top 5 most visited websites are Yahoo, Google, Youtube, Windows Live, and Facebook. Out of these 5 Google is the most popular SEARCH ENGINE. That means people go to Google to get information. Plus, they have Google Adwords, which is the most popular and probably the best pay-per-click advertisment there is! By using this you can pick a certain keyword and just out-bid everyone for that word. Therefore, you will recieve a top search ranking within minutes, just by bidding for the highest spot. This top search enigne rank gives you immediate exposure to the people who are searching, at this very second, for what you are offering. This is fastest way to make money online that I know of. But ther is a problem. Depending on the keyword you choose you could be spend $10,000+ daily for advertisment! Google tries to solve this by letting you set a spending limit on your ads. Another idea would be to go to Google and, using the keywords describing your product, find the top websites that are listed. Contact the owner of these websites and offer to pay part a percentage of their advertising cost in exchange for having your refferal link on their webpage.
This might sound like alot of work but it could be worth it. Or, you could just chose cheaper keywords that are'nt so expensive. They won't get you the most visitors but they are a start. Most people start out spending a total of $20.00 or so a day. Some experts say only spend 1% of your commission on clicks. That means if you make $50.00 on a product don't spend more than $0.50 a click. Some experts say never spend more than $0.20 per click. This can get pretty confusing. Lets try something else.
E-zines

- E-zines are electronic magazines that are tightly focused on a certain subject. They are published periodically and sent out by email or posted on websites. Ezine advertising is an alternative to pay-per-click because you don't have to pay ever time someone clicks on your ad.
Pay-per-click get you lots of visitors, but e-zine advertising gets you lots of highly targeted visitors. Golfers read golf e-zines, cooks read e-zines about cooking and recipes, and people who want to make money online will read e-zines about internet marketing, working at home and business opportunities.
The process of e-zine advertising is simple and poweerful. You find the e-zine you want to advertise in and place an ad. There are three types of ads:
The classified ad. In e-zines classified ads are the same as classifieds in your local newspaper. They are usually 3-5 inches in length. These ads are grouped with other ads in the same section. This are the least expensive. They should have a very interesting headline to grab attention and should not be placed with five or more ads in the same group.
The sponsor ad. This ad is much longer than the classified. It will appear at the top of the e-zine and is the first thing people will see when they open the e-zine. This is a perfect location because it allows everyone to see your ad! Sponsor ads can be placed at the bottom of an e-zine too for a cheaper price. Sponsor ads cost more than classified ads but are cheaper than solo ads.
Solo Ads. These ads are sent straight to the entire list of subscribers via email. This ad can be an entire page in size. This ad is the most expensive but also the most effective to use. If you want to generate money fast this would be your best chice.
IF you do decide to advertise in e-zines make sure they have great content.

- Remember me paiding $7.50 for advertisment and creating a list of 148 future customers? This is called a mailing list. You are almost guaranteed success if you build a mailing list. You'll be able to continually send sale messages to those on the list. Periodically you should send a newsletter to the list for following reasons:
1. It gives people a good reason to sign up.
2. You can offer products and services from affiliate programs in the newsletter.
3. You can offer your products and services in the newsletter.
4. People will pay to advertise in your newsletter.
How much money can you make by doing this? If your list is large you can make lots of money. If your list is around 15,000 you can publish one newsletter a week that contains around $400.00 in advertising. Also you could offer solo emails to your list for $100 with a minimum of one per week. This equals to $500 a week just in advertisment. You can also sell products and make offers for affiliate programs. Lets say this brings in another $300 a week. Thats $800.00 per week and I'm using very conservative numbers with these examples.
