Making Up

If you have been miserable because of a break up or a relationship that just isn't working like it used to, read on to learn about ways of making up!

Making Up

Making Up is Hard to Do

Sometimes people end up breaking up in the heat of the moment when what they really want to be doing is making up. You may have done it yourself. Sometimes it's almost like you are watching yourself as you say the words, "I just want to break up!"

When this happens, it can create a real mess for everyone. Making up can be much more challenging than breaking up. Making up sometimes involves looking at yourself and your relationship a lot more closely than you may be comfortable with doing. You can't just pull those break up words back and act like it didn't happen. There is just nothing happy about this kind of situation (unless you are escaping an abusive relationship).

If you are like most people, there are at least one or two people that you were sure you would always be close to, who you never even see anymore. This could have happened for a lot of reasons. You might have been in a romantic relationship that went bad for some reason, or you may have just been friends who had a falling out over something silly. No matter why you parted ways, it probably is not something you like to think about. If you just broke up with someone recently, THAT is probably all you are thinking about. You might be looking for ways to get your girlfriend back or win back your boyfriend. This can be a time when common sense goes out the window and desperation rears its ugly head.

Personally, although I am happily married now, there are still some bitter memories from past relationships that leave me shaking my head. I was reading some stuff on the internet the other day and came across a very interesting page about relationships and making up. I really wasn't looking for anything like this, but it had me wishing it had been around "back in the day" when I could have used it. It got me thinking about how I acted and reacted to relationship problems. All I wanted at the time was to make the relationship better and start over again. I suppose the problem was that I had no clue how to go about doing that without ending up looking like a fool.

When I think back to the times when I was dating and things went bad, I can still recall the intense feelings and how I acted in ways that some might consider a little bit nuts. I remember listening to a few specific songs over and over and over again for days. I also remember thinking constantly about what the "real" reason might have been for the break up and wondering what went wrong. I let myself get incredibly depressed and was just miserable constantly for weeks. None of it did a bit of good though. One time I stopped eating for about three days. All that did was make me feel worse.
