Looking at Wellbeing from All Angles with Carmel Cathie

Looking at health and wellbeing from an integral perspective - one that takes into account all angles and perspectives along different lines and levels of growth and development - is key to the development of wellbeing and balance, consciousness and growth.

Follow this lens as it is updated regularly. You will read different articles from the different perspectives that I find through my work and life in general.

Working in the way that I do I am privileged to be taught new perspectives everyday by peeking through the different windows through which my clients see the world. This, coupled with a Curious-George like nature when it comes to Spirituality and Evolution, lends a wonderful canvas I can write all over.

I intend this Lens to be informative, but it will probably also be opinionated, often times controversial, and continually dynamic as my own views and beliefs evolve and change as I too grow and evolve along with them.

There are many ways of viewing the world and what is going on in it, trillions upon trillions in fact. And what will come out here will just be a drop in the ocean, but like any ripple effect, it begins with one drop. It is my intention that my one drop will exponentially aid more in their growth and development than the thousand clients I have worked with one on one. My intention therefore is to stimulate in the minds of others seeds for further discovery, different perspectives for growth and development and a curiosity for evolution and wellbeing.

If you learn just one thing from this page, I hope it's this:
That you acknowledge and accept that it is only You who plants the seeds of thought for growth in the garden of your mind. No one else can change or control how you cultivate and grow the thought seeds that you plant. Only YOU can control what grows in the garden of your mind and becomes the reality in which you live.

Your thoughts create feelings and how you feel drives your actions and your actions create the results that you experience in life.

So become aware of the thought seeds that YOU planted in the garden of your mind - the creator of your reality. For even though they are based upon the events that have occured in your life, they are the perception YOU have taken and are now creating the reality in which you live. Are they positive, healthy and based upon a grounded sense of wellbeing? As they grow, do they grow strong with roots that allow them to weave with the flow of life, to change direction when required and to be grounded when needed? Are there a variety of different seeds planted to give your garden versatility and creativity? Is there space for new crops to grow and for new ways of harvesting to develop? Is there room for expansion and growth in the garden of your mind?

If not, are you willing to change your perception???

Spiritual Hypnosis

In a 13 part, 67 minute discussion, I gave a talk about Spiritual Hypnosis . Begining with the Three Levels of the Mind, I then moved on to discuss the Formation of Beliefs, the Body/Mind Connection through the Energy of the Body and its Chakra System while taking into account the integration of Mind & Spirit. I concluded by bringing it all together with the concept of an Attitude of Oneness so that our healing systems take into account all aspects of Mind, Body, Heart and Soul.

Spiritual Hypnosis here becomes a process of awakening consciosness becoming aware of the evolution of itself and the implications of this realization for the individuals contribution to Evolution.

Past Life Regression

A 20/20 Doco from TV New Zealand

A couple of years ago I was asked to help three New Zealanders with somewhat odd phobias find a cure via Past Life Regression Hypnosis. It turned out to be a really fun thing to be a part of and three out of three also found better way to live for having had this experience... seeing is believing so check it out.

It's only 12 minutes long but it's in three parts...

5 Ways to a Healthier You

by Carmel Cathie

1. Move - Exercise everyday with Yoga, running, roller blading, dancing, walking, bike riding, swimming, etc, etc, etc... what ever. Just move and you will feel stronger, happier, lighter, more positive, free and healthier everyday. And exercise doesn't have to be boring or hurt. Sometimes I just crank my ipod and hula hoop around the yard or the living room for half an hour. Just about any activity can be considered exercise when you feel healthier and more relaxed for having done it.

2. Breathe - Maintain a calm and relaxed innner self with proper breathing techniques such as pranayama, Buteyko or any breathing exerice regime used daily. It may sound silly as breathing is something we do everyday, yet very few of us breathe properly. But little by little you will notice all sorts of benefits from taking the time to consciously breathe. All sorts of ailments can be positively affected by the practice of conscious breathing techniques... such as asthma, stress, anxiety, insomnia, depression etc. Start a practice and just carry on with it... soon with will notice all sorts of improvements in your way of being; and its what you didn't expect that will surprise you the most from this practice.

3. Meditate - Again find the technique that works best for you. Start with just 5 minutes twice a day and you'll feel the inner calmness and wellbeing growing within you more every day. Meditation is different to breathing and can be done in the same time as a two part practice. Again the effects can be subtle and they may seem small, but over time the benefit can be very great indeed.

4. Expand Your Awareness - Open your mind and except a new idea or concept every day. Remember your mind is like a parachute; it works efficiently and lands you safely only when it is open. Notice when you feel inclined to argue with someones perspective, chew it over and ask open-ended questions instead of trying to convince them your way is better. Remember no one is 100% wrong and life is filled with variables and a trillions of different perspectives. Open you mind a little more everyday. Test your boundaries. And especially test your judgements as these are often simply indicative of what is suppressed within ourselves. And who made up what was ok and not ok anyway? Just expand, expand, expand. Its all part of evolving and growing.

5. Practice Gratitude & Love - focus on that which you are grateful for and that which you love in your life. For it is that which is working and good and right in your life that requires expansion. And so it is that which you pay attention to that you become conscious of and thus create more of in your life. What would you rather create more of? Health and Wellbeing or Health and Wellbeing?? Its as simple as that... the more you focus on what EVER it is you are focusing on, the more you are atttracting more of that into your life. So focus on gratitude and love and you will attract more and more reason to experience more gratitude and love.

Learning from your Past with Hypnotherapy

by Carmel Cathie, Clinical Hypnotherapist, CCHT, B.Soc.Sc.

(A note to anyone interested in Past Life Regression (or any regression work for that matter), ensure the Hypnotherapist you seek out to work with has an understanding of energy and the consequences of the lighter vibration that we now live in. Our planetary vibrations are shifting so dramatically now with a higher consciousness and new earth dawning, that we must be very careful not to regress back to old energy and bring it forward. We are living in lighter realms now and, because of this, regression work is not as often appropriate it used to be. In other words, we should work in the here and NOW and seek a change in our perceptions here today and move forward, as opposed to dredging up the past unnecessarily. An experienced Hypnotherapist is able to discern when regression is valid and appropriate, or detrimental, for the client. Obviously we are all at different levels of growth and development which means for some people this method of therapy is very highly beneficial for shifting energy, while for others it will hinder their growth).

Much mystery shrouds Hypnotherapy and the process of Past Life Regression (PLR) making it very much misunderstood. People fear it is not safe, that they will loose control, divulge personal information they didn't want to, become stuck in the trance state of mind, or worse still, re-experience the pain of a traumatic death or bad experience. The following will reveal to you that this is not true and that it is a safe and effective means toward healing, to the benefit of self-acceptance, and love; ultimately, inner peace and understanding. PLR can be the path to our authentic selves.

The subconscious part of your mind is the storehouse of all your memories. Like the memory bank of a computer, it is where every experience you have ever had is filed. Research shows, and if your belief system allows, you too can experience for yourself, that memories of previous life-times, and of life between lives, are also filed here. All these memories are vitally active, each creating the tapestry of our personalities. All these impressions contribute to the nature, both positive and negative, of who we are.

Typically it is not our positive nature for which we seek remedy. It's our negative traits and behaviors that can prove difficult to heal if we are unaware of the life experiences and belief systems from which they have come.

Understanding the belief systems we hold and where we got them helps us decide if they really are truly ours, and, if they are, what we intrinsically believe to be true about ourselves. Often it is here that one uncovers the negative core beliefs we use to express our behaviors. Core beliefs that lead to negative behavior traits are the likes of "I'm not good enough," "I'm unworthy," "I'm not noticed," "I'm weak," "I am a mistake," "I hurt people," "I don't belong here," "I am a disappointment as a woman/man" etc, etc.

So it is with the help of PLR, and other forms of hypnotic work, that one can seek to understand the inner workings of our internal struggles, and then use that understanding to further enhance our lives and spiritual growth toward a more positive, peaceful and integrated self.

Now typically, as Westerners, we find challenge in sitting still and quieting the mind. The hypnotic state of trance allows us rapid access to our inner mind within that special state of resting alertness; a safe, because natural, yet altered state of mind. The hypnotherapist then guides the client to access their own answers from that "all-knowing" part within. So, in the state of hypnosis, the critical, or judgmental, part of your mind is "asleep," while the fully aware subconscious mind is highly receptive to recollection of past experiences relevant to the current scenario.

It is in this state that we are able to build a bridge between feelings to find their origin of connection and thus heal and nurture them, and ultimately grow.

I believe we repeatedly reincarnate with members from the same soul group and therefore everyone we come into contact with is important for some learning we need. Further, it is this concept of reincarnation to different roles that confuses our human mind when it comes to intimate relationships.

For example, what of the couple that have everything with regard to companionship, communication, goals and desires? They love and respect each other but lack the passion required of romantic love and don't understand why that could be. In seeking help from PLR they can ask questions such as; what was the previous relationship/s between us? How have we worked, or not worked, together in the past? Were we best friends of the same sex? Father and daughter; mother and son? Did we abuse each other? And why did we come together this time romantically? What challenge are we here to over come? Or, have we already done this romantically, recognize the bond, but have no need to repeat the experience? Or, is one of us afraid to open up emotionally for fear of repeating some betrayal? The questions are limitless%u2026

Finding the answers to these questions does not imply the certain need to separate. That's merely one option within the many ways this couple may choose to progress in this life time. What PLR can do is offer a better understanding of where the lack of passion came from and provide options as to how it may be resolved.

Our sub conscious carries our past life memories, has attached a belief system to them and continues to act upon that system unable to discern past from present. It is in this way that we can become controlled by a past we are not consciously aware of while dancing to the tune of so called fate.

This couple may have been a couple together in a past life where one of them had betrayed the other. The purpose of this life time may then be to come together again in order to learn forgiveness and loyalty.

Another example; Why did a young woman suddenly develop Asthma at thirty? Her health perfect until she blew out the candles to her 30th birthday cake. Suddenly she could not breathe and was rushed to hospital. Five years later she does a PLR session to find out why she supposedly needs to use a ventilator for the rest of her life. Her sub conscious mind directs her to a past life where she choked to death in a house fire soon after blowing out the candles on that 30th birthday. Once she has remembered this ordeal, she is able to process it and let it go, consciously able to recognize that it was a different time, a different life. All that has happened is that her sub conscious mind is repeating what it learned can happen when we turn thirty and smell smoke.

The word "remembered" here is important. During a PLR session the client is not re-experiencing the past life so we don't re-experience any pain either. We observe the trauma so we can apply it to this life-time and make sense of it. In other words we are a passive observer of another person with the same feelings, the same "essence" or spirit, as us. It is the resonation between the memory and the current situation that enables the letting go of, or the forgiveness required, for the healing to happen in order that this life-time can spiritually progress.

The sub conscious mind is the all-important here. It does not discern fact from fiction, it takes everything literally, it is always recording and it has always has been. That means there is a lot going on within us that we are not aware of. Often this is a good thing, it means we breathe without having to think about it, we are able to conceive and give birth without having to tell the sperm where to go and what to do once it gets there. A healthy person does just wake up in the middle of the night if they want to use the bathroom and the heart continues to pump blood around the body as we sleep. These are good things our sub conscious mind does for us. But occasionally, and sometimes often, our sub conscious mind has a lot to answer regarding our confusion and how we deal with things.

Past Life Regression therefore, is an incredibly useful and productive tool (when indicated and appropriate) for health and well-being, especially where there seems no logical or rational explanation for something that just doesn't make sense, and when working in the Now with a consciously agreeable mind is proving futile. This process can be met with an inner knowing, or a shift in energy, that creates the room required for healing so we progress in life with a greater sense of clarity, reason and purpose.

It is only to do with you and your mind and your capacity to remember, to learn and to grow.
