Surveys say men are ready for a male birth control
Men are well aware -- or should be -- of the huge responsibility of conceiving a child. While some men take that lightly, it seems most men take it very seriously. It seems that men might gladly welcome a safe, reversible method of male birth control that would be completely in their control. But do they? It seems the votes are mixed. Men, be sure to leave your thoughts below.

Should you TRUST a sexual partner with the birth control?

Apparently, some people are less than honest about this very important subject. Men say they've had vasectomies when they haven't and women say they're on the pill but they're not. This even happens between married couples.Yet it seems that people just put their fate in the hands of someone else -- sometimes even a total stranger. Should people stop that nonsense and take responsibility for themselves? Or continue to trust the partner?
I know some men say that they have no control, until a male birth control is available, but that just isn't true. Condoms usually do work, and this is your life, and the life of YOUR yet to be conceived child that depends on your momentary lapse.
Can a responsible person -- male or female -- trust their partner with the birth control?

No way! I'll use my own back up regardless of what my partner says s/he is or is not doing to prevent pregnancy. It's too important.
AJTyne says:
I have mixed feelings about my own poll! I believe there has to be true intimacy and trust. Yet, I know a lot of people today do not believe that, and so for them I vote use your own method regardless of what your partner does.
If you can't trust the person, what are you doing having sex with them? For sex to be good, there has to be true intimacy and trust.

A Word About STDs
Sexually Transmitted Diseases Are No Laughing Matter!
No birth control method, except abstinence or monogamy, fully prevents sexually transmitted diseases. These diseases are deadly. Condoms are the 3rd best protection, but they are not completely effective against AIDS, syphilis, gonorrhea, and the rest.
Now, we have to worry about superSTDs! Gonorrhea, known for an uncanny ability to develop resistance to antibiotics used against it is now showing resistance to our last line of treatment against this disease that we used to consider easily treatable with no real ramifications. Well, if it isn't treated, or treatment is unsuccessful, it has massive ramifications, up to and including death.

Men, is this how you really feel about women?

Comments for Male Birth Control Pill Soon a Reality
It's awful to think anything close to a majority of men feel the way these men commented. So many of them believe women get pregnant on purpose to take their money! I haven't ever heard of a woman doing such a thing, but I suppose there must be some out there who do. It seems the battle of the sexes is more of a battle than I realized.
And is this how women think of men:

Should men or women be jointly responsible for birth control?

Women have the babies, so they should take responsibility for birth control.
Men and women should mutually decide on a type of birth control based on safety, convenience, and whatever they decide is important.
vallain says:
Women have the babies, but men can get stuck paying child support from an unplanned child. I'd think that would motivate them to use protection.
AJTyne says:
It should be a mutual decision, and it should be based on the safest method available. But for people who are not monogamous, well, I think you have to take individual responsibility, regardless of what each partner says they did or do.

What do you think? If you're a man, would you try a male birth control method? If you're a woman, would you want your man to use male birth control, would you trust him? Men, do you currently trust the woman to prevent conception?
