Male Yeast Infection

Although male yeast infection isn't all that common, if your partner has a yeast infection then there is a chance that you could get the yeast infection from them through sexual intercourse. In these cases you have the choice of getting prescription medications to treat the infection or more preferably using a natural treatment.

Over the counter medication is mostly aimed at the female market but most treatments work equally as well for men such as the various creams and pills such as Diflucan. If in doubt however about these over-the-counter medications you can always ask your doctor whether any of they are right for to cure male yeast infection symptoms.

Many natural remedies are also available if you don't feel fully comfortable using any of these over-the-counter cures and in my experience these are cheaper and often a more effective form of treatment.

Male Yeast Infection Symptoms

The most common symptoms of a male yeast infection are a burning sensation when urinating, pain whilst having sexual intercourse, itching of the infected area and in some cases a rash. This rash can either be along the shaft of the penis or on the tip of it. Male yeast infection symptoms also include a burning sensation of the infected area, a slight swelling, and ins some cases even a little discharge.

You should also consider that just because you suffer from male yeast infection symptoms, it doesn't necessarily mean that you have a yeast infection. You can get yourself tested to check for other causes, and doctors can easily test you to see if you actually have a yeast infection.

Male Yeast Infection Treatments

There are a few common sense measures can also help to cure, and in some cases prevent male yeast infection from occurring at all.

These include but are not limited to, abstaining from sexual contact and intercourse until the infection has cleared up, and changing your diet to reflect a healthier lifestyle such as staying away from refined foods, carbs, sugars, alcohol, yeasty foods such as breads, and red meats.

This may sound extreme, but should definitely by considered, especially if you find yourself having recurring bouts.

There are things that you can do at home to give you some relief until the medications or natural treatments begin to work. The first thing is to wear loose fitting clothing.

That means no tight jeans, and if you go swimming, find a way to change out of your swim wear as soon as possible.

Stress is also a factor, being under constant stress can put a strain on your immune system. And finally if you feel that you have male yeast infection symptoms don't be ashamed to ask help.
